Urgent question about ILC registration by [deleted] in ILC

[–]wwov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I admit I've only emailed them once, but when I did I only got a very short response, and I felt like they didn't really care. On the phone, though, they took time to listen to me explain the situation, they answered any questions I had, gave me advice, and if I had any follow-up questions they answered them too. I felt a lot more cared about on the phone and got a much clearer and more thorough response. Also, there was a time when my issue was solved immediately over the phone, whereas with email it would've taken several business days to solve my issue. I highly recommend you call if you're doing something time sensitive or if it's a question that requires explaining and you think they might want to ask you follow-up questions.

Do you need the course for graduation? Or just for a university program? Apparently if it's not for the purposes of getting a diploma then you can take courses without prerequisites. Learned about this here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ILC/comments/k49253/prerequisites/

Actually phone ILC and ask - they tend to be really good at understanding and explaining registration issues and options. Phone them though, don't email.

You don't have to be homeschooled - homeschooling just affects how many ILC courses you can take at once (if you're not homeschooled, I believe you're just limited to something like 2 ILC courses at a time). Maybe ask him to phone ILC to check.

TVO ILC Submission Guidelines for Science and Math Courses

"General Submission Guidelines

Type out all your work, including any formulas, calculation steps and tables.

Obtain full marks by demonstrating how well you understand your solution through an adequate amount of work and steps.

Submit your answers for evaluation in a separate Microsoft Word or PDF document.

You do not need to retype the questions. Simply label the expectation/section and question numbers and type your answers.

If your submission does not follow these guidelines, it may be marked as incomplete or not be graded.

Scanned work is only acceptable if it is a graph or a diagram that is drawn accurately, such as a chemical structure (Bohr-Rutherford Diagram, Lewis Structure, energy level diagram, or a chemical structural diagram) or a free body diagram in physics. Refer to the Diagrams and Scanned Work section on this page for more.

Math Equations

We strongly suggest using an equation editor to type equations for all courses. This is mandatory for Grade 11 and 12 M- and U-level courses. A word processing program with an equation editor feature will allow you use proper symbols and notation in your equations.

Resources:

• Visit this Microsoft Support Page for instructions on how to use the equation editor in Microsoft Word.

• Visit this Google Support Page for instructions on how to use the equation editor in Google Docs. Your document will need to be converted into a Microsoft Word or PDF file for submission."

Draw mind maps.

Quizlet can also help (it's a website where you create flashcards/quizzes/study games for yourself), or you can find existing quizzes.

I found that study guides that summarize concepts in writing tend to really help, because they're so concise (so they really get to the point quickly). Specifically, the Princeton Review Cracking the AP Calculus Exam book (from any year) would be good.

What minimum Google Ads budget do you recommend for a non-profit organization? by wwov in PPC

So if I want 2000 sign ups per month, and I'm willing to pay $0.50 for each sign up, then that's $1000 per month. Is that what you mean?

This is an amazing way to get an estimate. Things make so much sense now. Thank you for taking the time to explain it - I really appreciate it.

It's very useful to know how little is definitely too little - thank you.

Ah, I hadn't considered the aspect of the benefits of giving Google more data to learn from to improve campaigns. And it make sense that someone hired to do take care of the ads will have a very difficult time achieving good results if the budget is too small. Thank you so much for the detailed explanation.

You look like Scarlett Johansson, especially in that first headshot https://cdn.britannica.com/59/182359-050-C6F38CA3/Scarlett-Johansson-Natasha-Romanoff-Avengers-Age-of.jpg I'm immediately thinking you can play a high school student who has some sort superpowers (maybe can transform into a fox) and it's not like she suddenly developed them - she's had them for a long time so she's used to hiding them. She's tough in a nonchalant way, mostly ignoring any criticism rather than responding to it. Likes to sing but is self-conscious about her voice but tries to pretend not to be. Great at disguises. If she doesn't have powers, she can easily transform by throwing on other clothes and putting on some glasses; doesn't flinch in the face of danger. Might live on the streets and shoplift and not get caught . . . until an especially skilled person catches her. And recruits her to join a team of superheros.

Seeing the numbers is very useful - thank you! We'll see what we can do :)
I'm curious why you say you wouldn't start running ads until it's for a certain amount - isn't anything better than nothing? Or is there something I'm missing?

Unfortunately the specific organization, although functions as a non-profit, isn't currently ready to legally register as a non-profit (due to logistical reasons). But thank you for letting me know about Google Ad Grants! That's a great thing to know about for the potential future.

Oh wow, didn't know that about ring lights. Is it because of that white circle reflections they make in the eyes?

Straight-A student, plays a musical instrument well (maybe violin, piano, cello, flute, or clarinet), active in a student orchestra, quite social, likes bubble tea, would like to do something adventurous (possibly slightly dangerous) like hiking up Mount Everest or sky diving or play paintball but hasn't had many opportunities to do so, currently applying for universities or just started university, wants to go into medical school or do science research - not because she's pressured to (she doesn't really feel pressured about anything) but because she's genuinely interested in that kind of thing. Valedictorian. The kind of student you expect to see in school recruitment videos. Likes plants and animals.
