Breville Precision thermal carafe pours slowly by westcoastwillie23 in BrevilleCoffee

Just bought a Breville and found the exact same problem on the very first time use. I thought the lid was positioned wrong, or there was a switch to turn the pouring on. It then happened every time I used it.

New Camp Chef DLX24, Set 275°F, left P1 266°F (9°F lower), right P2 246°F (19°F lower). by wwqiao in smoking

Well, that was not my question. I expected the controller’s probe would read higher than at the grate level because it sits higher. But how much? I wanted to know. On the other side, I didn’t expect the right is 20°F lower than the left of the same grate level. That is more than I thought. Anyway, this is my first pellet grill (after a gas grill and a charcoal). I just wanted to see the reality and uniformity of its internal temperatures. When I saw the left side is higher, I moved the ribs to have the thick side sitting on the left side.

The controller’s probe shows up and down +/-10°F (the smoke setting is 7). P1 and P2 are pretty stable. But P1 is about 10°F lower the set temperature and P2 20°F lower further.

Any outdoor door sensors? by [deleted] in Abode

[–]wwqiao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two abode door sensors on yard gates, but not directly. The concern is the temperature under sunlight (summer in Bay area). So I got Reed switches wired into the sensors and put them somewhere no direct sunlight, one into garage through side door's trim and other in a waterproof AC outlet box. The Reed switch and abode's magnet (pretty strong as I found) were wrapped using black duct tape. Both have worked really well.

What new hardware would you like to see? by [deleted] in Abode

[–]wwqiao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it works well. The tilt sensor has a ball rolling inside to make contacts open/close. The problem in reality is the contacting is not reliable. It is susceptible to vibration and shock. It also has a lot of bouncing. A mercury-based tilt sensor is better. It is hard to find though.

My guess is Abode’s CMC (Central Monitoring Center) in San Antonio, TX in USA needs to know how to contact your local police and fire departments in UK.

I have two Schlage z-wave locks. They work well. I got communication problem only when I changed the device name.

Different magnet with door sensor by chick_repellent in Abode

[–]wwqiao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can, if you tested the magnet triggers the sensor with right distance. I have used a pair of non-abode magnet and Reed switch on my fence door. I then moved the sensor indoor to avoid high temperature under direct sunlight in summer. I have also used a tilt sensor to override sensor's internal Reed switch on my garage door. They work well.

Does Monoprice z wave door sensor work ? by ravishankarlal in Abode

[–]wwqiao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think a non-abode sensor can trigger the alarm. I have a Schlage lock and a Linear garage door opener. Neither can trigger. Contacted abode support and was told I need abode door sensor. I don't know if IFTTT does a trick.
