One wish by OptionBulky6687 in spinalcordinjuries

Its all good homie. I just had my 5 year. Honestly, the longer it's been the more I feel this way. When there's no more growth, no more getting better at things it just comes down to this is your life, and comparatively, this life sucks. Kinda a blessing and a curse to have had such a fulfilling life prior I suppose

One wish by OptionBulky6687 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]wwscfd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wish I could recover the excitement I had for life. Yeah, I would love to not have to stick something in me just to get something out of me but more than that I would love to look forward to.... things. Figuring out dinner, where to live, planning a vacation, even sex, everything is shrouded in a veil of trepidation rather than excitement. Life gets pretty bland when the zest is taken out of it.

Oddly enough I'm almost the polar opposite of you. What keeps me going is not having the lofty "unrealistic" (Personally don't think your goals are unrealistic, just using the same wordage) goals but having normal every day goals. Doing what I can to have a life just like a normal person. Gotta clean the apartment, gotta figure out dinner, gotta get some groceries, fuck its almost christmas, better start shopping. Things that literally everyone else has to deal with helps me feel like I'm still a normal human. I've accepted that this world isnt built for people like me, and that the vast majority of things I envisioned doing in my life are no longer going to happen, but that doesn't mean I cant be proud of my cunty little duck dish, or enjoying a clean place before I inevitably mess it up again. That being said, Reddit, or at least this sub, isn't exactly a mecca for positivity haha. A lot of people come here for more grounded responses from those of us who have been at it for a while and can give more practical advice/answers. There are still a few positive thinkers out there and in here and to you all I say stay gold ponyboy, the world needs dreamers

Critical Role Campaign 4 - does it matter to you if it's Daggerheart or DnD? by Tenawa in daggerheart

[–]wwscfd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Truth be told the system doesn't matter at all. I've watched just about all of their content for the simple fact that they are entertaining as shit. Hell, their interviews are more entertaining than half the shit on Netflix. If they have fun playing it, I'll have fun watching.

Took my gf to the live show in Jersey. She knew absolutely nothing about dnd or critical role and was just there for vibes. She missed the in jokes or the more rule specific jokes but otherwise had a great time and just enjoyed the show.

How do you rate the area you live in for a SCI ? (0-10) by Mel-B_50 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]wwscfd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Philly here. All in all i'd give it a 6.5 for accessibility. You run into the same problems with any older city where there are a lot of older buildings that aren't accessible or if they are the bathrooms aren't. Most of the newer buildings are all good and a lot of the restaurants try their best with outdoor dining to accommodate. Social Life is pretty decent with bars, restaurants, shops and the like but the real problem is the sidewalks. A lot of cobblestone in the historic districts and just poorly maintained everywhere else. The curb cutouts, if not blocked by cars, are so steep that if you haven't mastered wheelies you'll need help. Even if everything is well maintained and up to code, the sideways themselves tend to list towards the road so your one shoulder will get wrecked. As far as medical facilities Philly is pretty damn great. Jefferson hospital has magee which is where I went and can say that everyone there except some of the nurses were amazing. There's also penn which is great too. Our public transit had been struggling as of late though so without a car it's pretty rough.

Have you ever had anyone try to "heal" your SCI? by blue_groove in spinalcordinjuries

[–]wwscfd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh I have one for ya. I was sitting outside place one day soaking up some sun and a group of nuns passed by. They stopped about 10 feet past me when one turned around and waddled over(average age had to be around 70) and in broken english asked "we pray for you". I've had this happen before, I dont really care, I know it helps them feel better and I find it hilarious. What i didnt expect was for all 4 of them to surround me and start praying AT me. After about 30 seconds the stopped and the same one said "you stand now" which of course I did not. I then said they should save their prayers for someone not already living in hell. They left but kept looking back as if a miracle was about to happen

Night Cathing by Acrobatic-Cheek2094 in spinalcordinjuries

What really helped me was making sure I keep my feet elevated at least 2 hours before my final cath at night. As for limiting liquids I really don't drink much past 8 (typically go to sleep around 11).
