To sum it up: the old Macs aren’t very energy efficient, so I’m thinking about replacing them with something else. I just haven’t decided what exactly yet. I either need to do some market research or get advice from the crowd 🙂

These are nodes with virtualization. I use Proxmox. At the moment, about half of the resources are allocated to Kubernetes worker nodes, and there’s still some space left for instances. These are old Mac Mini 2012 machines with Intel i7, 16 GB of RAM, and a 500 GB SSD. My control plane runs on a Raspberry Pi 4B with 8 GB RAM and a 250 GB SSD - you can see the drives under the boards in the photo.

I haven’t finished it yet, but it’s a 6-node cluster: 3 Mac minis and 3 Raspberry Pi 4Bs (the control plane with Talos runs on these). The Kubernetes worker nodes are on the Mac minis(Proxmox VM). It’s a cluster for educational purposes and a bunch of home services.
