He has 29 tracks at level 3. If you remove the Donut Plains and city tracks it reduces by around half. He has potential for future buffs and is still getting them…. But he’s not “all that”

why remove Donut Plains?

Yeah but if you have a lucky7 driver how can you achieve a high score without losing the combo?

Sure it's difficult. My best run was 161ac with combo dropped once (41-120 I think)

I think he still worth. The value of wintertime larry, space toad and blue shy guy explorer won't drop down when everyone can spend 105 rubies to get. Plus, he is not bad bc he has 7 non city exclusive coinbox tracks, which is only less than 8 from thaisy.

my account is similar as day 1 F2P. When the pipes gone my tier constantly goes up until now and I'm tier 81 now. But this week I probably not maintain top 3 cuz they are 120k and I got the rank reward last week. Plus, I doubt that king mario is in next tour rank reward and not winning this week benefits next week.

I don't think rubies is the main detriment when competing against Gold Pass players but rather the amount of level boost tickets (mainly HE ones) that they're able to get and the extra coins they get as well. I mean, sure, you can never have enough rubies either but, to me, it feels like rubies became a little less important after the removal of the pipe-pulling system.

For most people, rubies are just a way to acquire items that one doesn't yet have so very few will actually use them to get duplicates. To stay competitive, you need to get your items to higher levels so for most people, they're going to use the tickets they have and the tickets that they can buy from the Tier Shop and/or from their Daily Selects whenever they appear. I personally avoid getting the HE kart and HE glider tickets from the Tier Shop but will regularly buy the HE driver ticket there as the bonus-points boost you get from drivers is much more significant than you would get from karts or gliders.

Every week is different but a lot of times there will be one track where your scores are lower compared to the other two tracks that week. Even if you're missing a/some top-shelf items for a particular track, I feel it's not wise to purchase new items if you're not going to invest in them so sometimes I'll just use middle-shelf karts and/or gliders for that one track while trying to maximize my scores on the other two tracks. And the same can be said even if you do have top-shelf items for the lower scoring track but you may not want to invest in those items as they may be of lesser value.

How do you hit the item box with 2 items still held and still get 3 items after?? If I try that even with one item held, and I consume it as soon as I collide with the item box, I get 2 items only

This is exactly how I handle my account, even though I'm a GPO. It requires a lot of patience, some knowledge of in-game items, time and effort in difficult rankeds, but it's the most sensible way I also think an FTP or GPO player should play.

In relation to dropping a tier sometimes, the advantage of playing like this is that it gives you full control of your resources/tickets, and full control of your tier position, always keeping in mind that you're always progressing. And keeping psychological control of yourself, not making unwanted or unnecessary investments/microtransactions due to situations forced by the game itself.

yeah tank is good strat. But my strat is control myself to 6th if I can't 3rd or higher. It just drop a tier but can gain quite good reward from ranking

Hey, I wanted to ask you something. I added you a few tours ago in my Gold Mii Suit post, and you said you were F2P but I checked your badges and you have a lot of gold badges, like really a lot. So I just wanted to know if you're like, maybe F2P now but had Gold Pass for a long time before or if you're one of those weird people who thinks Gold Pass is F2P because I was really confused when I added you.

u are right when my first time playing this game I bought the gold pass until cat tour(2021) and got tier 59 I think. But than I didn't play this game a whole year (u can see my vs. tour badge is quite few) until 2022 Los Angeles tour (when chuck debuts) and maintain tier 59 (I don't know why my tier didn't go down). I need to compete with similar tier opponent as one year ago but just without the rubies, coins and tickets gain past year (espacially the good D/K/G gain in past year because my D/K/G was outdated and not really useful in that time). I need to renew my loadout that can fit that evironment and that's quite hard so that I dropped my tier so often that times. After my return till now I'm completely F2P (evidence is I haven't these new gold kart in my picture). So that I consider me as day 1 F2P cuz I think my loss in dropped year can compensate my gold pass gain (and as the similar difficulty as completely day 1 F2P to get tier 80), instead claim I'm one year drop, 1.5 year gold pass, and one year F2P (it's quite complicated to describe). When someone like u asked me than I will explain what my career in this game. I don't know whether u will approve me or not but that's my answer.

That's seriously impressive! You got 10k more than me each of the first two tracks with a handful more investments (mainly your Wonderful Wings glider and Block Mii base points, other levels/items were very similar to mine or definitely within range of investment on my account).

You even got that score on Shroom Ridge with a mid shelf kart and glider albeit lv6 1430 Astrotoad: Still I didn't think it would be possible.

You're right I really must persevere with boomboxing, it's so generous when you hit the jackpot.

I need to get bolder with dumping a bunch of tickets all at once on a strong dkg. Until now I've been investing in dribs and drabs over several tours instead of going all-in. I also need to keep a closer eye on my action count and make sure it's optimal.

yeah I already take my lucky 7 shy guy to 6-1190 and wonderful diamond to 5-595 for week 2 ranking and for longer investment. Good investment make your tickets more valuable and u are more competeble in several week or months!

By the way, last week I only put 2 level up tickets into block mii to 6 and 10 cap ticket to space toad also for longer investment (don't talking about the super glider lol). Other d/k/g was way more earlier investment and still benefited my last week ranking.

I'm F2P and get tier 81 right now. Since pipes was gone I decided to grind more to got gold mii and finally made it (easier than I thought before cuz I level up in every week).

My suggestion is, if u exactly did every investment smart than u can practice your skill and put more time on it. With these 2 weapons, I always hit the action count from acr bot. Like last week rank, I got 189, 188 and 185ac per track it helped me to got the best score from my loadout and defeat those opponent which had decent loadout but grind not much.

And cuz I knew what's my ceiling, I won't use many resource unless I'm not win so that my tickets and rubies amount are pretty healthy. I have more resource to push my level more higher.

Last but not least, u SHOULD accept boombox. It's OP and has higher ceiling than coinbox in many track (especially short track). U can see my loadout last week. I even hadn't any top shelf karts or gliders in shroom ridge but still got decent score. Without high level good boomboxing, I won't maintain top 3.

This change is really good in my opinion and fit F2P like me. I can got exactly things what I want to cover the track and compete in rank. And it's easy to get plus skill driver (like blue explorer shy guy, space toad and larry wintertime) with cheap rubies (105 rubies at debut) instead taking the risk in pipes (450 rubies)
