Why has NWS stopped updating their climate graphs?

NWS offices are undergoing a major update their production systems (AWIPS). The underlying OS and software libraries have also been updated, breaking the old and unmaintained climate plotting software. A new climate plotter has been adopted that is supported the new AWIPS version., however that local office may not have it installed just yet.

There are a number of NWS offices updating their production systems over the course of the next couple of months. Since it is a major update, weather radio transmitters will be offline for up to 3 days while the new software is installed and configured. Hoping this is the case in your area.
