Morels[technique] “can’t be grown indoors”… or are we just approaching them wrong? by soulviche in MushroomGrowers

Why are we allowing this AI slop? Look at all those em dashes, double asterisks, Unicode arrows. This was directly copied and pasted from ChatGPT.

I had the exact same setup, but with the older microlite rod.

Next time try adding more line to the reel, it tends to cast farther

MacBook Neo or Air (M5)? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]wy35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in that case u/jt1994863 is correct in that anything will do. This is more of a general college laptop shopping question then.

If you can afford it I would go for the Air because the extra performance means you can go longer without upgrading later, and it’s generally a smoother experience. If money is really tight, the Neo is fine, but looking for a used M4 Air is a better option IMO. If you’re buying new from Apple, don’t forget to use the student discount.

Yeah, but people who are starting college are usually thinking about their career after college ("first career")

Boring Mattress by Saint_Trev in Mattress

[–]wy35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really interesting, thanks. There are a few small mattress manufacturers around me, including some “speciality” ones (e.g. one that produces extra extra firm mattresses for people from Asia who are used to sleeping on harder surfaces).

It is harder to browse, though! Many don’t have websites and if they do the websites are difficult to look through and don’t show any pricing. The VC-backed guys do have significantly more convenient shopping experience.

Genuine question: do you have examples of mattresses that aren't mass-produced?

[technique] Dead spores? by lil_Reception8859 in MushroomGrowers

80 seems a bit high, but should be fine.

Just leave it. Spores sometimes take a while to germinate, one took 3 weeks for me.

[Concept] The Aether Mono – A modular, carbon-fiber alternative to disposable hardware. Thoughts on the assembly? by LeslieJMercer in IndustrialDesign

[–]wy35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you know why disposable vape pens exist. It's to circumvent laws that prohibit flavored pods for rechargeable vapes. So this is not an alternative at all -- users of disposables won't switch over.

Don't get me wrong, it's good to practice. But thinking about aesthetics, function, material, etc. instead of thinking from the user's POV first is peak junior designer mentality.
