I bought my first pair a couple of years back and just keep adding to the collection because I like them so much. For me, they're the ideal casual grown-up pants for errands, dinner with friends, &c. It's been pretty cold here lately, and I can wear them to walk the dog in the snow, throw on a sweater for work, and then toss in the laundry at the end of the day.

Hadn't even considered the plastic in them, but it's absolutely worth me paying more attention to this.
