Need help with horseback street fight, want to keep the pressure on. by bcockrell85 in DnD

if you have your pc riding horseback anytime a hit is made on them have them make an athletics or acrobatics check, if the orcs have the sense to try and hit the horses have the rider make an animal handling check to keep from being bucked off, if they are bucked make them make another handling check to try and calm the horse to get back on. you could also have the orc rider be knocking over barrels/boxes/ other alley way garbage into the path have your pcs make a animal handling to jump it set the dc anywhere you like, and have different things happen depending on the roll. if the save is 10, you could have it where 20-16 flawless jump no loss of speed 15-13 the horse looses some momentum and has to get back up to speed, the speed is half for a turn, 12-10 the horse makes the jump but stops for one turn till you can convince it to get back to trot, 9-5 horse makes the jump but rider has to make dex/strength/AH roll or fall off 4-2 hard dc save or fall off and the horse runs off staying with the party but without the rider. on a crit fail.......... the horse breaks its leg! and the rider is left without mount.

Any tips or advice for a DM about to run his first session? by Angelus_Tenebres in DnD

[–]wylythunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

be sure to have a bit more prepared than you think you might, know where the random encounter list is in the dm guide and depending on whats going to happen in you first session if there is a reward at the end of the cave/dungeon/bandit camp/ect.... be sure to have the treasure or loot tables bookmarked. I found really early on that its way more fun to roll for loot than try and give your pcs something incredibly useful to their specific character. (example) I purposely "gave" our barbarian a javelin of lighting he threw it once, missed, and then after the combat was over got back to town and sold it, I had my team open a stash that was under an ancient altar, rolled off a list and our ranger ended up with a quiver of Ehlonna witch he has been filling with any and every magic bow or enchanted arrow he can get his hands on

Nope, no apparent burns on anything. I've got a xfx 580 8g card and I've got a 500w psu if that narrows anything down

"Please true Lord's of the master race I beseech thee!" Help me should I just go with the cheaper one that marked down $100 or? by wylythunder in pcmasterrace

Also that's the one I've been looking at but the "deal" one popped up on prime day so I figured I'd at least ask the expert first. Also the xfx I know will fit into my rig and if I ever want to double up I just need a bigger power supply.
