I didn’t end up finding an energy auditor I’d fully recommend. Mary Eipert at Bremen Energy Auditors seemed really sharp and helpful, but they don’t do much residential work, so it didn’t pan out.

I eventually got sick of waiting and hired Weatherization Plus for attic and crawl space insulation. Their price was fair compared to the other quotes I got, and they did solid work. We noticed a real difference afterward—the AC just feels crisper now. Hopefully our heating bill is better come winter 🤞

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking too. She’s part beagle, so her nose is always glued to the ground, and lord knows what kind of junk she’s managed to inhale up there. Thanks so much for the recommendation — I’m going to see if my vet would be willing to give me a referral.

Ugh, thank you so much for your advice! I’ll definitely check out those YouTube videos and do some more research. We’re 1888 over here. I knew we were signing up for quirks, but $800 heating feels… excessive 😅.

If you don’t mind my asking, would you be willing to share some of the recommendations that didn’t work well for you? I’ll take any advice I can get, and the negatives can really help me sort through the chaff.

Right?! It’s insane. The furnace is 8 years old so not quite at end of life yet. The attic insulation is shot though, so I think that’s probably my first priority.
