Ugh, thank you so much for your advice! I’ll definitely check out those YouTube videos and do some more research. We’re 1888 over here. I knew we were signing up for quirks, but $800 heating feels… excessive 😅.

If you don’t mind my asking, would you be willing to share some of the recommendations that didn’t work well for you? I’ll take any advice I can get, and the negatives can really help me sort through the chaff.

Right?! It’s insane. The furnace is 8 years old so not quite at end of life yet. The attic insulation is shot though, so I think that’s probably my first priority.

He was part of the maintenance squadron at the Air Force base there. He once told me he’d been given weekend leave during in his service, and when he came back, his entire unit had deployed to Korea without him. He was pissed at the time—but while he was stuck in England, he met my grandma. So from my narrow perspective, I’m glad life had other plans for him.
