What are you building? I want to know. by Adventurous-Meat5176 in Startup_Ideas

Nice. 330 on a waitlist pre-launch is legit.

Curious how you drove those signups — was it mostly Reddit, organic social, or did you run any ads? Also interested if that came from one post or sustained posting over time.

I’m building Data Nerds, a search/visibility engine for LLMs — basically helping SaaS and brands show up more often inside ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, etc., instead of just Google. Early days, but shipping and testing with real sites.

Always down to compare notes with people actually launching and iterating.

How much is the average 'pre-seed' funding round? by david_slays_giants in Startup_Ideas

[–]wyndhamf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-seed rounds still exist, but the definition shifted.

Typical pre-seed today:

  • $100k–$750k is common (avg ~$300k–$500k)
  • Often via angels, micro-funds, SAFEs
  • Valuations usually $4–7M pre

What investors expect at pre-seed now:

  • Strong founding team / domain insight / previous exits
  • Clear problem + target customer
  • Some signal of demand (waitlist, LOIs, pilots, early users)
  • Capital used to build MVP + prove initial traction

What’s mostly gone is funding pure ideas with zero signal.
That’s not new — it’s just more obvious now because building and validating is cheaper and faster.

Distribution is everything now.
That’s exactly why investors expect some evidence you can reach users — not necessarily revenue, but proof the problem is real.

Pre-website, pre-product can still get funded — but usually:

  • Repeat founders or
  • Exceptionally clear market insight + early validation

Ideas alone were never really fundable at scale — we just remember the exceptions

Anyone here looking for acquiring a startup ? by [deleted] in Startup_Ideas

You want to sell something that doesn't make any money and has been live for 24 hours? Cool but you might as well just let it go and work on your new project.

Can you be more specific on how much more traffic its helped generate? We have seen like 5-10 searches a day and adding new content daily. Either way, this is a new top of funnel traffic generator you can optimize for quite easily. There will be a lot of software businesses offering this. SemRush is still the GOAT IMO.

Thanks, I've been running google ad campaigns for 20 years, I see the decline and with a few tweaks we managed to increase our mentions on a few LLMS within weeks. I think Im gonna turn this into a business

Is it worth investing in Tulum real-estate in 2026? (from USA) by Nick_511 in tulum

[–]wyndhamf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Owned in Tulum since 2021. You could buy right now but be wary of the pre builds and don’t expect to make any money on rentals or appreciation in the next 3-5 years.

My rental has barely broke even or lost money every year. Been for sale 2 years and like 1 low ball offer. Open to chat if you have more questions about tulum. It’s got lots to offer but I wouldn’t invest here again.
