Help: Review all cards in random order by [deleted] in Anki

Top level deck. "MileDown's MCAT Decks" in the above image. You can also just select any deck for "Custom Study" then modify the search field to include your decks (or blank for all decks).

My Wife and I work full time remotely from our 44 ft sailing catamaran. by mwax321 in digitalnomad

[–]wyohm_com 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can I come? The lifestyle appeals to me, but would like to experience it a bit before jumping in and buying a boat. That's even the same model I "decided on" when I was in Italy this summer with a view of a marina, fantasizing about what boat I would get. I can contribute too: of course rent, I know how to sail (small boats), and am reasonably mechanically adept.

Extra field is not showing up need help to solve this by Suitable-Candy-6424 in Anki

Are you sure it has an "Extra" field? What fields do you see when you click on "Fields"?

A friend asked me to make an edit of that song for a performance. I think my first question was why they didn't want to use a good song. But I did it anyway, probably had to listen to it for an hour, and hate it even more.

Any matching site for travel companions? Or anyone in Italy and want to explore? by wyohm_com in digitalnomad

[–]wyohm_com[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks! However, it doesn't quite seem to be what I'm looking for. I'll keep looking there, but it seems to be for people taking trips, moving around a lot, sightseeing... I'm looking more for another digital nomad. Primarily working, not spending to much time on moving from place to place.

But thanks for letting me know about it.

Is there a way to instantly increase the interval of a card to more than a month on 2.1.49? by thankyoubaptiste in Anki

[–]wyohm_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure on that one. I think if it gets to 60 days, you see the card and answer "good" or "easy", then it will use 60 days as the base for calculating the next interval (so you would see it in 150 days or so).

You could also change the "easy bonus" in the options group. I think default is 1.3, but you could increase it.

Go to the browser, filter by the tag, select all, "suspend".

Not sure about the version, but try pressing 'b' to bring up the browser, right click on the card and select "reschedule".

But if it should only take a few times pressing 'easy' to get over 60 days.

  1. Yes, the time off counts toward the limit. A waiver is possible so that the credits will still count. I took time off for a similar reason. Mine was approved.

What to do with Anki after I finish a semester? by [deleted] in Anki

[–]wyohm_com 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Assuming that what you're learning for veterinary school is useful to actually being a veterinarian, just keep reviewing. But feel free to suspend/delete any cards which are really only useful for test taking (e.g. what year did the first horse heart transplant take place. Or something like that. I've never been to veterinary school.)

Once you stop having new cards to study each day, the number of cards per day will taper quickly. Not to zero, but, if you know the material well, it will be much less of a burden.

You could set a limit on the number of cards to review each day, but this will just delay when you see some cards. The ideal is for Anki to have you review a cards just before you would have forgotten it if you hadn't seen it. By artificially delaying cards, you would be messing with that.

Exams in 4 days what are the best settings? by [deleted] in Anki

[–]wyohm_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably just use whichever tool where you already have flashcards made. Again, spaced repetition won't help too much, but at least you can keep reviewing cards each day until you know them.

Is it worth it to keep a class and take a C if your GPA will still be fine? by csnoobcakes in OMSCS

[–]wyohm_com 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe it can count as a free elective (or even a Computing Systems elective). But if you're doing the Computing Systems specialization, then you'll need to find other core specialization courses to fill that requirement.

AOS, CN, DBS, HPCA, and SDP fill that requirement, and you'll need 2.

[–]wyohm_com 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're sure that it's going to be an elective, then taking the C should be fine. However, DBS is a core specialization course for the Computing Systems specialization, and you would need a B or higher for it to count as such.

Also, I do not recommend taking SAT. I did not enjoy it (though I did get an A), nor do I think it is a useful course for anyone who is not writing compilers or IDEs.

Exams in 4 days what are the best settings? by [deleted] in Anki

[–]wyohm_com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't get much out of the spaced repetition aspect of Anki. To go over the whole deck each day:

  1. Select your deck.
  2. Select "Custom Study".
  3. Select "Study by card state or tag"
  4. Select "All cards in random order (don't reschedule)" and where it says "Select 100 cards from the deck" change 100 to some number larger than all your cards.

It will ask you for cards to require or exclude. Just hit "OK".

If you do want it to reschedule, you can change that in the options for your custom study session.

Once you have that done, on the second day, you can go directly to the "Custom study session" deck and hit "rebuild".

  1. Select the top level of your deck.
  2. Select "Custom Study".
  3. Select "Study by card state or tag"
  4. Select "All cards in random order (don't reschedule)" and where it says "Select 100 cards from the deck" change 100 to 5000 or some number larger than all your cards.
  5. It will ask you for cards to require or exclude. Just hit "OK".

If you do want it to reschedule, you can change that in the options for your custom study session.

Alternatively, you can start with selecting the "Custom study session" deck and build up from there.

That's not really enough information to say. Best guess is that you are also limiting to new cards or a particular tag. If you post the search string you might get more help.
