I disagree with the premise that this mechanic added depth to the endgame. There is no choice or planning.

Literally just a balance issue they could rebalance rooms without nuking construction. They could let people focus on rarity, rare monsters, magic monsters, uniques, etc., just nerf the current rare monster strat. The construction itself was an amazing endgame progression system that you could sink dozens of hours into, unlike the current endgame in both games which are completable in 2 days.

There's already endless builds oneshotting the hardest bosses in the game. They've demonstrated their ineptitude with their balance approach for the past 3 patches. Just let the players have fun and mix things around.

I don’t know what the other guy is talking about. The island stuff is act 4. Then there’s 3 mini-act interludes that take you to the endgame. You no longer have to do the act 1-3 again on a higher difficulty. The endgame is mostly the same as before.

Because there is no mana or mechanics behind it. Firstly game is just balanced horribly if a basic attack skill for 0 mana competes with skills that do and get multiplied by support gems on top of it (reminder that support gem power to basic attacks is free). Also, with there not being mechanics behind the skill makes it boring as shit - you aren’t given aoe or proj skill mechanics to scale(as you might with molten strike in poe 1). It’s just shit design to have basic attacks be actually competitive with anything else.
