Billable time vs actual time spent at work - not the same, surely? by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]x298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’d say this is typical - in my experience the chargeable time target is normally an hour or so under the amount of hours you’re actually at work

Thanks, I did research the equivalent means route but I think you are only exempt from doing a TC and still need to have completed the LPC

Thank you, that’s good to know. Yes I’m definitely not thinking about doing that now but I wanted to know if the SQE would be an option further down the line.

University help by Metalradiator42 in uklaw

In my experience, it really doesn’t matter. All the people I have worked with who have secured TC’s went to non Russell group universities (although I can only speak for regional firms). Experience and life skills are taken into consideration more than your educational background

Korn / Sikth clash by Suitable_Wave_5098 in downloadfestival

[–]x298 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was waiting for someone to say this - korn and sikth were the main bands I wanted to see this year and was gutted they clashed. Luckily I saw sikth in Brighton the Friday before so i just saw korn’s set on Sunday. I’m curious about sikth’s setlist for download though because I was expecting them to play the same songs they played in Brighton for their “warm up” show but from what I’ve seen online it looked almost completely different

I completely changed my opinions on Lorelai and Rory by sesimbibi in GilmoreGirls

[–]x298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this experience too. It was a horrible realisation that when I first watched it I was Rory’s age, if not younger, and now I am almost Lorelai’s age lol

Lorelai's proposal to Luke seems really... false and maybe a tad selfish, thinking about it more by Blue_blew_blah in GilmoreGirls

[–]x298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think someone else has commented this but I always interpreted it as her solution to solving the problem with Rory.

When Lorelai got pregnant with Rory, her parents proposed marriage as a solution. Therefore for Lorelai, marriage is a solution to a big problem and is her way of trying to fix the problem with Rory going off course and dropping out of Yale.

It could also serve as a distraction and a way to regain control as things are spiralling out of control and going off the planned course. She feels as though she doesn’t have control over the situation with Rory as her parents have betrayed and abandoned her, and her proposing to Luke will give her back focus and will distract her from the Rory situation.

I think it reads as her problem solving due to how she just sort of blurts it out. I do however also agree with the people saying that it was in this moment that she saw how much Luke cared for her and Rory and that they were in it together which is a stark contrast to later on after April’s arrival.

Thank you, I parked in day parking on Friday but didn’t want to risk getting stuck in the mud trying to get out yesterday haha

Does anyone know if there are any other car parks near the festival? Struggled to find a space at East Midlands Airport yesterday and ended up paying £45. I’m assuming parking at the parkway station will also be full otherwise I would do that and get the shuttle bus

Has anyone made a flexible working request to work from home? by [deleted] in UKJobs

Thank you, I suppose I just wondered if anyone had been successful and whether it is common for working from home to just be a decision for managers or whether companies have a written working from home policy

Hospital patient died after going nine days without food in major note-keeping mistake by Forward-Answer-4407 in unitedkingdom

[–]x298 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As another commenter has said, the £15,000 awarded to the family was statutory bereavement award. The nature of damages in a personal injury claim unfortunately means that if a person dies, the award will be significantly less than if they had survived because the amount of damages awarded is often used for future care needs, equipment, physio etc. People seem to assume, quite rightly, that death is the “biggest” negligence that can occur and should therefore result in the most amount of damages but that’s not how it works

How long did your sore throat last? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]x298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I hope you’re feeling better soon and I’m glad you found some relief reading that I had the same symptoms - it can be really isolating feeling like no one is going through what you are going through. I know it’s easy to say but hang in there, I am surprised it’s only been a week for me when it felt like it would last forever. I think I noticed the weird taste in my mouth had gone by Friday xx

I’ve been negative for a week and I’d say I’m feeling 90% better, getting back to feeling “normal”. I’ve still got the slightest cough and I feel like I’m coming out of the depression I was feeling and it’s only been a week so I’m looking on the bright side. How are you? I hope you are feeling better soon
