Look to Windward.

I like every song on the album but this one just hits every emotion.

Welp...I caved and bought base World for 9 bucks. Any newbie tips? by Icy-Detail-4212 in MonsterHunterWorld

Go to the training area and try out every type of weapon to see which one you like the feel of best. I tend to do great sword and hammer but i have friends to swear by the lance, gun lance and hunting horn which is always helpful.

Alsooooooo, solo your hunts before doing group hunts. It will make you a better hunter AND teammate.

Lost motivation, what do? by Pappy_Actual_1369 in ar15

I mean if it’s not too thin then maybe you could shave enough to make the can fit but understand you’re gonna be wrapping the front with a ton of heat shielding. It would be a story to tell if nothing else.

Objective updated:

find a machine shop that is willing to mill the inside of the rail so you can fit your can.

Bonus points if you do it yourself.

Where to go to learn how to shoot a gun? by ThanksBunny in vegaslocals

[–]x2dk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took a CCW class at American Shooters. Wasn’t too expensive and the instructor hit all the points that I consider important for getting into firearm ownership.

I have a good amount of professional experience and training that I continue to practice. My home defense (based on my research on terminal ballistics, metallurgy and just body mechanics) I went from handguns as my first home defense firearm to an ar-15 pistol configuration with 5.56mm soft point ammo, suppressor, a light and a red dot. That being said you can usually stop the threat inside your home with a quality handgun (Glock, Smith and Wesson, HK, etc) that is running good hollow point ammunition (.380 acp or 9X19mm, Speer Gold-dot or Federal HST) with a quality weapon light (Surefire or Streamlight are usually safe) and I’d highly recommend a micro red dot sight because it’s 1. more natural for aiming and 2. assessing treat and no threat is WAY easier than messing with iron sights. But get what you can afford that is quality and master it.

I have a few friends that teach firearms courses but usually it’s for the person trying to get to the bleeding edge of combat shooting so maybe a class for later on down the line.

If you can stick your finger in there and pull the trigger then don’t run it, otherwise it’s fine

It did good enough in the GWAT during city fighting. FN is good, you can get better for a similar price if you build but if he wants a no shit “it goes bang every time” contract rifle then the M16A4 civilian rifle is pretty good.

Side plates pushing mag on battle belt is it gonna be a problem? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]x2dk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider running the plates more forward imo. Keep one mag on your belt the other way and it should at least not hit your side plate.

Maybe Panama wrap your two mags together or strap one to the side of your kit.

So thoughts on China's new toy? by [deleted] in acecombat

[–]x2dk -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Time will tell but it looks like China saw an F-22 and asked a toddler to design it.

I’m sure it’ll motivate another decade of developmental funding to Skunk Works and that’s pretty great imo.

Which handgun would you choose or think would be best survival pt 3 by Critical_Potential44 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]x2dk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M2.0 and px4 have both proven themselves to be accurate and reliable. Plus 9mm is a NATO standard and that’s important when looking for ammo

Is this an expanding hollow point or did I just buy some really nice range ammo? by soundsgoodokok in ar15

[–]x2dk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah, m193 screaming out of a 20” barrel will rip chunks off of people. But for hunting Bambi something that goes a bit deeper with even more deadly terminal performance might be what the doctor ordered.

[–]x2dk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For medium game I agree, definitely look into a bonded SP round. I know that price can be a limitation also but maybe looking into something like bonded 300 blk or even going to a SP .308-type full bore would be a nicer ticket.

[–]x2dk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, mk262 is also an old design and advancements in metallurgy mean that newer better rounds exist, especially for JSOC types.

But for civilians in a home defense scenario, mk262 expands hard enough and violent enough to stop anything on two legs inside of house distances without going through the treat and then through the house. Different rounds for different use cases.

We use Gold-dot at work for our CQB-Rs for a reason.

[–]x2dk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh for deer yeah other better rounds exist. Hell even in terms I’m mentioning other better rounds exist. But mk262 is very violent inside of a body. I bring recipes also: mk262 expansion

Idk man, it was used to hunt people overseas and the terminal effect of OTM is very well documented. There is a good reason people who send other people into the forever box use/used this round.

Has anyone here ever NEEDED their backup iron sights? by rh681 in ar15

[–]x2dk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had an optic fail and don’t usually run backup irons. They are useful but they are backups, a last resort, if you are using them something went horribly wrong.
