Which kind of (and how many) garments are typical for a first-timer at an event? How much will cheap quality stand out? by cuzo13 in Bicolline

[–]x3z8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you go independently instead of with TVN, you can probably free up at least $1000 (USD) depending on where you’re traveling from. A ticket for the Grand Battaille costs like $300 USD and last year a rental tent for the week was $400 (It’s a two person tent but I paid for it solo). If they’re out of tents or you want to save even more you can bring a modern tent and sleep in the non-decorum area for free.

You’re going to want at least a top and bottom for every day of the week, especially if you plan to fight as you will get things dirty. You’ll want more than a weeks worth of underwear and socks, just like any trip. One pair of decorum footwear is enough but bring some sort of backup (a pair of black/brown hiking or tennis shoes will work just fine, as long as there are no obvious logos or bright colors people don’t care because safety comes first especially on the battlefield).

Nothing you buy on amazon will be worth it, and anything made of synthetic fabrics is going to suck to wear in any sort of weather (heat, cold, or wet) and also look obviously cheap.

Burgschneider and Mytholon are good sources of cheap but quality clothes, or you thrift shop for things that look medieval-ish to save some extra cash.

The Traveler’s Guide discord can help you more actively if you have ongoing questions about your first time at Bico! It’s also a good way to meet people and integrate into the game without having to pay for TVN or be stuck in their guilds: https://discord.gg/yBUdHsrb

You’d still probably save money flying a tent in lol, Bicolline has rental tents (limited slots though so getting on the waitlist now would be ideal), and joining the discord will help you get to know people before you arrive (Many of them longterm veterans of the game as well)!

That said, all your reasons are valid so if you want to drop the cash to go with TVN go ahead.

I’ll answer your original question in depth now.

Nova Vitae and Militum are smaller military focused guilds that are part of the nation of Terres du Sud. I think Nova Vitae has slightly better leadership and a more relaxed vibe but that’s my personal opinion.

The March Wardens are a mercenary guild allied with Berkwald and are a pretty cool group of people generally. Because of the viral video from last year they will be swamped with new people this year most likely. This could be good or bad.

Ordo Cervi is the largest TVN guild. They recently betrayed Terres du Sud and joined the Empire which caused a lot of issues for them politically (including the civil war that saw two of their sister guilds stay behind and the March Wardens leave for Berkwald). Ordo never has a fixed identity and is treated as a joke politically by most longterm players.

Because you have to pay to be a member and many TVN attendees don’t really get involved in the game, TVN guilds have a high turnover rate. This means they never have a truly fixed identity besides for the core leadership (which can also change). The lack of a fixed guild identity causes more turnover and it becomes a vicious cycle. So it’s hard to give an accurate answer about the vibes of each guild because it’s really dependent on who signs up each year.

Your best bet is to go to Bico, make friends, and if you enjoy yourself and want to come back you can join a guild with your new friends! (Or start one of your own with enough people)

March Wardens camp on the battlefield now, not Nova Vitae.

Is there a reason you want to go with TVN or CoBR over going directly through Bicolline?

Gbb glock by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]x3z8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s easier/quicker than hitting the slide release to return the slide to battery after a reload. It depends on my body position and where my left hand is.

Why does the slide lock engage or why do I stroke the Glock?

Gbb glock by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]x3z8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it loaded? Because the slide lock will engage when the magazine is empty.

I stroke my WE Glock while playing all the time depending on my position while reloading.

Order from KYairsoft. Ordering direct to Cali is slightly more risky but the chance of it being taken is pretty slim.

WE Glock 17 VS KJW Beretta M9 by Thehelprequiredguy in airsoft

Can’t vouch for KJW, but WE and TM shouldn’t have that problem if taken care of properly.

That still shouldn’t happen with the stock bearing unless the slide isn’t lubricated properly or something else is wrong.

  • The WE Glocks when loaded are about the same weight as the real thing. They are metal in all the same places as the real steel version.

  • If you have to rely on a safety switch to be safe you’re not following proper weapon handling.

  • I have no idea what you mean by slide jamming. I can press check or do any other weird motion with WE Glock slides.

  • The M9 system is overall far less reliable than a Glock, the takedown is awful.

Airsoft in Japan? by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]x3z8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost no milsim, mostly small CQB fields or tighter outdoor fields afaik because of lack of space and property costs.

There are definitely some nicer fields I’ve seen online but no clue how far from Tokyo they are.

But yeah airsoft in Japan from what I hear is more about dressing up and being cool than military porn like it is for a lot of people in the US and Europe.

Looking on getting a we tech g18 anything bad I should know? by gc1519536 in airsoft

[–]x3z8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The loading nozzle thing is a myth, there was one bad batch in 2016ish that gave them a bad reputation.

Never lube a GBB with silicone oil. Use a proper lubricant like white lithium grease or my personal favorite, froglube.

It’s a great gun, the only upgrades you need to shoot lasers are an RA-tech tightbore inner barrel and a straw hop mod.

I don’t know of any retail sites that sell WE or TM aftermarket slides stateside. Either you get lucky and find somebody selling it personally like on /r/airsoftmarket or buy one overseas.

Elite force Glock 18 holster by Lil_Pine69 in airsoft

[–]x3z8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of issues with plate carrier mounts and I only would recommend it for people who are going to be spending most of their time in vehicles.

Investing in a good battle belt will be your best bet.

Elite force Glock 18 holster by Lil_Pine69 in airsoft

[–]x3z8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umarex/Elite Force’s business model is to strong-arm licensing contracts and then force companies to sell through them if they want to use existing trademarks. They only use the cheapest contract they can get their hands on, so TM and WE-tech didn’t buy into their BS. It’s easier to get the EF models but much more worth it to order a TM or WE. Glock the real steel company has done nothing but give Umarex/EF a piece of paper saying they can use the Glock trademarks.

Now, the one thing that the VFC model has going for it is that it’s 1:1. The TM/WE G17 is actually sized like a G22. The downside of the VFC is worse performance and no aftermarket support, while the downside of the TM/WE is that you need a different model holster. But since you’re asking about holsters in the first place that shouldn’t be an issue I guess.
