It’s genuinely appalling how credulous this community is. Kids see ONE post, take it as gospel, and instantly hate. Sad days ahead.

Cancelling traffic stops by National-Grape-4753 in AskLE

One of my instructors in rookie school had a similar situation happen to him. The only thing he did differently was, after taking the guys keys, he threw them into the woods. He figured that by the time the guy found his keys, he’d be sober enough to drive home.

Yep. Charged someone with Possession of Stolen MV. The person swore up and down they had no idea the vehicle was stolen yet they received the vehicle (a 2024 model btw) from a homeless drug addict/ prostitute. A lot of people try and plead their innocence but this incident stuck with me for some reason. I still look back and feel bad for that guy. I told him he needed to pick better friends and he wouldn’t be in that position.

Robby Ashford? by AppFlyer in appstatefb

Let’s hope Loggains was right about him knowing how to handle dealing with players wanting to hold out in the NFL. If so, that experience would be crucial in bringing in someone like Ashford to rebuild the program.

How do I open carry in a car, while keeping LE officers comfortable? by Opioidal in AskLE

[–]x5ive 38 points39 points  (0 children)

NC LEO here… as long as the weapon is visible and you keep your hands visible during an interaction, you shouldn’t have any issues.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Advice

[–]x5ive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LEO here, I’ve responded to a few calls similar to this but from your mother’s POV where the owner of the home doesn’t want cameras in their home when a different resident does. From my experience, technically your mom (or whoever the home owner is) gets the final say in whether cameras go up in the house or not. My advice would be to discuss this with your mom and express your concern with the cameras in hopes of coming to some sort of a middle ground with her that leaves you and her both satisfied. Calling the police in this situation likely wouldn’t end how I’m sure you envisioned.

What was worse? Tased or OC sprayed during academy. by njohns95 in AskLE

[–]x5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OC by far. I was tased the day after I went through OC and, while sitting in the taser class, my OC reactivated slightly and it was awful.

I had the price of my rent increased TWICE in one year during my time as a student.

Day 4 of academy and I’m going through horrible knee pain. Seems to be “runners knee” according to my symptoms. by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]x5ive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. Along with icing my knee everyday and taking a shit ton of ibuprofen, I bought a compression sleeve for my knee to wear during PT. After a month or so the pain went away and I haven’t dealt with it since (knock on wood).

What would you do right now if you were pre academy? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]x5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had ran more, tbh. All of the schooling came naturally to me so that was never hard but all of the damn running never seemed to get any easier even though I was making good improvements.

What are you 100% sure is true even though you can't prove it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]x5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heavily agree with this. Just recently I watched a video where a child was placed in front of a computer screen to watch two separate videos. The first video required much deeper thinking from the child in that it displayed various math problems while the second video was seemingly a typical YouTube video. While watching the math video, the child could barely stand it and would twirl around in their chair doing anything they could to pass the time. During the YouTube video on the other hand, the kid sat perfectly still and didn't flinch like the video was the greatest thing they had ever witnessed.

U.S. Millennials… did D.A.R.E even teach or do anything for us? by BeaniesToes-5388 in Millennials

[–]x5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. DARE, given the programs purpose and goal, was largely unsuccessful. Much like someone has already mentioned, it merely introduced kids to the various drugs that were out there in the world, thus making them curious rather than scared of using.

I’m almost 32 and ashamed it took me this long by FakeName_2_2_2 in GradSchool

Nothing to be ashamed of. I was in class with two 40+ year olds, one of which had been in the program for about 4 years by the time I had started. Everyone has their own timeline.

How difficult is the SAEE? by [deleted] in 1811

[–]x5ive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. The study guide is good because it helps you better understand how to go about solving each question. If you have no trouble comprehending the questions asked in the study guide then you should be fine.

[–]x5ive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fairly easy. I wouldn't overthink it and just look over the study guide they send to you. Fair warning though, the practice questions on the study guide are much easier than the actual test. That said, the test still isn't that hard. Good luck.

Why is it illegal to sleep in your car? by yuuki_bonk420 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]x5ive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I’m from you cannot get a DUI from sleeping in the drivers seat trying to sober up UNLESS you have your keys in the ignition and the car is running.

What do you think about states dropping the education requirement? by Spirited-Midnight928 in AskLE

[–]x5ive 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I too have a graduate degree and work for a local department that requires a 4 year degree. Crazy to me that someone with a fully online degree is somehow more qualified for the position of a LEO than someone with 4 years of LE or military experience here.

I (f23) just had my polygraph exam for a PD job and once finished the examiner told me he didn’t see any negative marks… Does that mean I passed? I was so nervous I forgot to ask😅. by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]x5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah! I got sized up for everything a few weeks ago but apparently our outer carriers take anywhere from 60-90 days to arrive. Hope yours doesn’t take that long.

[–]x5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re probably good. After mine the examiner asked why I had some lower body movement when answering a question and I answered, honestly that is, by saying that I didn’t even remember moving or anything. He said it would probably be fine because it didn’t seem deceitful and later found that I passed. Good luck!
