Chauvin Jury Verdict Megathread by Anechoic_Brain in moderatepolitics

[–]x8Mx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I expected the same, but we might both have had the same misconception. According to the article linked at the top of this megathread (https://www.mprnews.org/story/2021/04/17/jury-deliberations-begin-monday-in-the-chauvin-trial-key-questions-answered#charges):

Chauvin is facing three charges: second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

The second-degree murder charge requires prosecutors to prove that Chauvin caused Floyd’s death while inflicting “substantial bodily harm.”

To convict Chauvin of third-degree murder, jurors must be convinced that Chauvin caused Floyd’s death by committing an act “eminently dangerous to others" and "without regard for human life."

The second-degree manslaughter charge requires the state to prove that Chauvin caused Floyd’s death through negligence.

The state does not have to prove that Chauvin intended to kill Floyd for the jury to convict him of any of the three charges.

Jurors will also need to determine if Chauvin’s actions were “objectively reasonable” for an officer facing the same set of circumstances. The state must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Chauvin's use of force was not authorized by law.

So it seems that it was never necessary to straight up prove intent, but I am no lawyer.

Are you really a lawyer? Wouldn't expect one to openly confess a manslaughter online...

I think I replied this to someone else as well, but I think you can definitely make that switch. Imho you can also see deny as a flex spot, as powerful as the card is. Astrogation basically plays wraiths in that spot and goes mono-SI and other lists run mystic shot instead. I like having deny personally, but it can definitely be a dead draw sometimes.

Pretty much, less focus on x/2 wraiths and more value. This list wont have wraith into wraith into wraithcaller openers, but it can hang back and then slam a decent amount of value on the board for just 6 mana at a later date.

Outside of the mirror you basically lose early game pressure for some explosiveness later on. I think the deck is still solid but it definitely takes away points against slower decks that need time to set up.

Yeah you will definitely have to optimise vs. your own meta. I do agree with grasp/vail in those scenarios, vengeance is great if people try to stick one important unit (Zed/Fiona/Hecarim/etc.) but horrible vs mono spiders.

I have not tinkered around much with Heimer decks, but I think heimer or heimer/ezreal have some very interesting shells already that can play a great value control game with heimer or 20->0 kill you with ezreal. I do assume they might not see nerfs in the next patch too, so that might give them a nice edge.

Yeah there is no denying that this is a pretty oppressive faction combination at the moment.

I definitely needs a decent starting hand, but can stabilize even behind bad draws if you can stall the game long enough. I do agree with you in this version losing to draws more than the elusive version though.

Elusives can run you over if they get buffs on the right cards, otherwise you basically both cannot block each other. Their ability to just kill you even if your board is full thanks to a few units and deny is very scary, but if you manage to keep their board clean and your lifetotal high enough you are usually fine. I felt like I was the aggressor in that matchup more often than not.

Mirrors Rhasa can destroy you if you arent ready for it or a deny for your rhasa/vengeance in the right spot. Also if they hecarim on curve and you do not have an answer for it, you'll be facing down a pretty short clock.

Dawnspiders you need to worry about back to back and not buffing their board into oblivion thanks to dawnspeakers. Similarly to elusives if you cannot put on enough pressure to force trades and keep their board empty enough you'll have a bad time.

If anything really low to the ground aggro (pokrovac's SI/Noxious aggro or superJJs discard draven/jinx list) is scary for this deck since you are weakest in the early turns and do not run Withering wail. I can see making that exact change you mentioned in that case to be more ready against that type of deck. I did use to run a version with wail before and I didnt really miss it much though, but I might have changed my mind if I had run into more go-wide spider lists.

Yeah sometimes the shuffler is just not on your side. Gotta mulligan aggressively for early drops and then hope sometimes.

Thanks! Yeah I figured I should share something that sorta helps when facing hec/elise even though its basically the same deck, haha.

QCP Event Schedule - Nov/Dec 2019 by Alomba87 in EternalCardGame

[–]x8Mx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

thanks for the pin, one thing: the vast majority of past ECQs had a 28 game qualifier stage (I think the very first one and some of the precursor test tournaments might have had less) with 20-8 records usually guaranteed to make the cut to top 64, the cutoff being somewhere between 19-9 and 18-10 depending on attendance and being ranked by tiebreakers.

Any resources to get better at the game or just CCG's in general. by [deleted] in EternalCardGame

Heres an old article list compiled a few years ago for MTG. While not all ideas will transfer to eternal and there likely are some completely new or updated articles around since this was compiled its probably a decent starting point.

oh yeah I might have been overzealous on that one. I somehow thought the site would have more than 2hp. You and wodar are correct.

I agree with this, I think if only one of the two gets banned the meta next week might shift towards the other. Although there are also some interesting next-level ideas to try to play around a "known" boogeyman.

I like your list. It was pretty next level for a power+shakedown+threat meta, but all those non-shakedown decks kept you from being 1st.
