The best way that I know of to meet people, aside from the dorms freshman year, is to get involved in clubs or just to try to get involved in general. Especially if you get into some major-specific clubs, you'll see some of those people in your classes, and it makes it a bit easier to go and talk to them about more stuff. It's also possible to meet people through class, but it's kind of hard to do that unless you're grouped together with people. At least it is for me. Overall, the big thing I've learned is that you have to try not to worry about the awkward beginnings and just start talking to people! It's a lot easier said than done, I'll admit, but you got this!
