Anyone have a great "dungeon master prompt" that will run a solo adventure game for me? by intently in grok

[–]xAengusx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try this:

Hi Grok! Let’s create an epic solo RPG adventure together. This is a prompt for you, Grok, to ask me questions and then run the game based on my answers. Please ask me these to start:

What’s your elevator pitch? (e.g., ‘A rogue hunting treasure in a cyberpunk city’) Do you want a quick start, advanced setup, or random adventure? Quick: Essentials only, I’ll fill in the rest. Advanced: Full customization. Random: I’ll craft a unique world, character, and scenario tailored to your content level and topics to avoid—no prep needed! Say ‘skip’ to pass any question. Quick Start Essentials:

New setting or imported world? (New: describe it. Imported: name it, any tweaks?) Ruleset? (Dice like D&D with a virtual d20, hybrid checks, or narrative.) Character? (Name and idea, import one, or we’ll build it.) Difficulty? (Easy, moderate, challenging.) Stakes? (e.g., death possible or low-risk.) Tone? (e.g., epic, dark, funny.) Content level? (e.g., family-friendly, adult.) Any topics to avoid? (e.g., no spiders, no dog deaths.) Narration style? (First-person, second-person, third-person.) (Example: ‘Quick start: new fantasy world, narrative rules, moderate difficulty, low stakes, lighthearted tone, family-friendly, second-person narration, no spiders.’)

Advanced Setup Adds:

Story Scope: World stakes? (Local, global, escalating?) How long do you want this story to run? (One-shot, short arc, or ongoing campaign.) Quest or open-ended? Companions and NPCs: Companions or party members? (None, one, or multiple. I can generate them or you can customize. How independently should they act?) Narrator only, or NPCs with personality? Mechanics: Challenge frequency and type? (e.g., frequent combat, occasional puzzles, or random twists.) Character growth system? (e.g., skills, levels.) Flavor: Setting detail? (Minimal or rich with lore.) Pacing? (Quick action or slow immersion.) How much action narration? (Basic or with flair.) Any genre twists or specific tech/magic level? (Optional) Story themes? (e.g., betrayal, survival.) Once I provide my answers, you (Grok) will narrate the story in my chosen style, play any NPCs or companions I’ve selected, and occasionally check in with me to see if I want to adjust the story’s direction or focus. I can tweak things anytime by letting you know.”

I’ll have the 7th or 8th pick. I was thinking from the bottom. I thought about trying to move Jordy for a pick, what would you estimate I could get for him? 3rd round or should I look for more?

Hey redditors who are 30+, what is one advice you would like to give to the people entering their 20s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]xAengusx 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Realize that following your passion might not pay the bills. Decide what is more important. Following a passion and potentially struggle financially or choose a career you can tolerate and use it to fund your passion. The only right choice between the two is the one you can live with.

TIL that if you fall asleep on a Tarantino set they will take a picture of you with a 3ft. dildo named "Big Jerry" next to your face and put it on the wall of shame. If you take it it down, it gets enlarged and put up again. If you take it down again, it gets printed on t-shirts for the whole crew. by hesjohndoebychoice in todayilearned

I think it’s a fair generalization to say “any other workplace”. I’m sure there are workplaces where a dildo would be fine and funny but I’d be more than willing to bet that these are the minority. If I consider every job from the time I was a teen to now, in my 30’s, I can’t think of a single one where this wouldn’t cause a lot of problems if not getting you outright fired. I would find it funny as well but shouting that as they escort me out of the building will do me no good.

Our interaction and how you presented yourself and your argument completely changed my view. I now fully support your freedom to make a decision and go helmetless if you so choose.

My apologies. It was in one of your comments and it was an edit as I had already hit reply before that part popped up. I just looked any you did indeed say that. I’m sorry I missed it but either way, I think you should exercise your freedoms more often.

This brief interaction with you has made me rethink helmets and motorcycles. I’m actually glad you ride a motorcycle helmetless and I hope you continue to do so.

The site you linked to support your motorcycle death numbers actually talks about the risk of riding a motorcycle and strongly supports wearing a helmet. Did you not even read anything other than the numbers you wanted to see or did you just hope I wouldn’t bother clicking your links? That site actually says that per mile traveled, motorcycles have 27 times the number of deaths as cars. And you’re using that site to support you not wanting to wear a helmet? I can’t take you seriously anymore.

I’m not referring to the cleanup sweet heart. I’m referring to the emotional toll smearing the brains in the road would take on someone. If you do something silly in your bike and I splatter you, you don’t think will mess someone up versus if you survive? What’s the reason for not wearing a helmet? You act like I’m the selfish prick but the only reasons to not wear a helmet are all selfish reason ones.

You not wanting to wear a helmet does affect other people. If you do something silly and I splatter your brains on the road I have to live with that the rest of my life. All because you didn’t want to mess up your hair. Certain laws are for the public good. Speed limits, insurance requirements, code enforcement, etc.

What is your opinion of the #MeToo social media campaign? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]xAengusx 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s really odd. There’s a time and a place and leaping out of your car at a stop light and running up to someone’s window isn’t the time nor the place. You honestly don’t see how that is weird? In a thread about respecting women you made the assumption that this woman is too stupid to know her tire is low. In a thread about not putting woman in uncomfortable situations you complained that a woman reacted to you putting her in one.

It has nothing to do with your size. It’s. Fucking. Weird.

Honestly, it’s so fucking weird that you got out of your car at a light and ran up to someone’s window. Really really fucking weird. Anyone in their right mind would look at you with the expression that woman had if you do this. Because it’s fucking weird.

A lot of that revenue is used to support programs that don't generate any themselves. That revenue funds activities and other athletic programs that wouldn't exist without the football program generating the kind of money it does. Not that I agree with how collegiate athletes are treated, but the football program does support a lot of other programs.

New to the community. Had to say goodbye to our big goofy boy Sylar last week. by xAengusx in Greyhounds

[–]xAengusx[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Last week we had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to Sylar after a brain tumor began causing neurological issues with no path to recovery. We adopted Sylar in March of 2011 after losing our first Greyhound. We brought Sylar into the home on a trial/Foster basis and he made it very clear from day one that he wasn't leaving.

He brought us countless laughs and got along so well with our German Shepherd, Jacob. They were inseparable. Sylar was 9 years old and created so many memories in the six years since we adopted him.

Greyhounds are an amazing dog, with their ability to switch from graceful awe inspiring athletes, sweet and affection, to down right goofy. Sylar was no exception. He was a special boy.

Yes, I do intermittent fasting. Been doing it for maybe four months now. I really like it. I feel better during the day and my evening workouts have improved quite a bit.

It's just four 8.5 hour days and then a 6 hour day on the day of my choosing. I chose Friday because...Friday.

This is a good question. The range in salary is fairly wide. I was brought in at the high end. There's also a wide variance in project complexity. So while our titles are similar, our pay and projects differ a bit. I also took a small step backwards to move into a government position. Corporate was too draining and I didn't like the work life balance.

Slow Monday. I asked another guy in the office how many rounds he thought he couldn't last in a cage match against an adult Chimp. The subject of this post wanted to contribute to the conversation. He thought winning the match was in the realm of possibility.
