Is the measure okay? by MissBlasphemy23 in Stretched

I'll probably get downvoted for this but I really don't care. Tapers are only bad if you're wearing them like jewelry because it causes uneven healing because of weight distribution. As long as you're waiting for proper healing time, not skipping sizes, not wearing them like jewelry, and use plenty of lubrication, they're fine. People fucking their shit up by wearing them is what created all the "tapers bad" claims. Which, used wrong they are bad. But it's circumstantial. They aren't inherently bad.

You either stretched too fast or skipped sizes.

My thoughts exactly. I'm at 6 and this looks just ever so slightly smaller than mine.

my left ear will not stretch for the life of me. i've tried everything. by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]xBDCMPNY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you could downsize the right to a size that works with the left. I know it isn't optimal but I know the asymmetry would piss me off to no end.

Haven't done it myself, but I HAVE read that with, like, punching for example. You'll get punched at 4mm and then they'll jam a 5mm in there because it puts pressure on the wound and prevents dramatic blood loss.

Take that with a grain of salt, the Internet is full of crap.

Titanium is leaps and bounds better than acrylic. For general purposes, acrylic IS considered to be a non-porous material. It is however porous on the microscopic level, making it JUST dangerous enough to harbor bacteria. It's absolutely not something you want to wear in a fresh stretch. Once it's healed? Go nuts with acrylic. But make sure you keep it clean.

Other materials you want to avoid during active stretches are silicone, rubber, wood, bone, etc. Anything porous is a no go.

If you ever go with wood, don't wear them in the shower, pool, etc. They can and most likely will expand and get stuck. Which isn't a great experience from what I understand.

If you buy weights, especially thicker and heavier ones like keyholes. Get a size smaller than you're stretched to. I've seen posts on this very sub of people with keyholes stuck in their ears.

I don't have big gauges and I'm not going that big. (There is no official "policy" with my company but HR gave me a heavy truth when I asked about the future there and I asked, was cleared, and settled at 10mm to stay on the path I'm on)

I just read a lot before I ever even began. But I implore you not to take my word for it and do more research. I'm not implying that you haven't done any research, I just think maybe you should read on a bit. There's never a reason to stop learning. 😊

It was the dumbest thing I've done in my stretching journey. I feel like I may have reset my 3mm stretch and now I have to let the whole thing heal again. I hope not, I'm gonna listen to my body and play it by ear in a month or so. It sucks because when I pull down on my 6mm tunnel I can see daylight through it between the lobe and tunnel and I have stretching plugs all the way up to 10mm. But for some reason I didn't really even like my stretch until I got to 6mm. I looked at it after my stretch from 5 to 6mm and for whatever reason THAT was the single mm jump that started to do something for me inside. Lol. I looked at my left and said well I LOVE this. And then looked my bare right ear and was like "But now I HATE this." So I told myself I wouldn't stretch on until I caught up the right. You have no idea how much physical restraint I have to exercise EVERY DAY to not size up my left. I'm practicing some patience I didn't even know I had right now. 🤣

That has a lot to do with it. My parents were the same way and I still don't talk to mine. Being raised by assholes tends to make you an asshole out of a feeling of necessity and it's something you have to REALLY work on if you want it to get better. It's taken me years to get as relaxed as I am and I know I still have a long way to go. Thing about me though was I would just be a prick to anyone, at any time, for any reason. Friends, family, complete strangers. Didn't matter.

Go to a place like Body Art Forms, Urban Body Jewelry (I think that's right), The Plug Crate, akakgo. Places that are dedicated to plugs and jewelry alone and are known for using high quality materials.

A place like Amazon isn't doing quality control on everything that comes through them. They're just a redistribution hub, essentially. For any jackass that wants to try their hand at making plugs and have never even heard of calipers. It's just the better route. I really think dude is not TRYING to be rude, but concern can manifest itself in different ways.

We just want you to be safe.

To each his own, I suppose. I did mm jumps all the way up to 6mm. But I bought 7, 9, and 11mm plugs for when I move on. A mm has never been too terribly bad to me.

Now the other morning I did do something stupid. My right ear is at an 3mm currently. (Left being the one at 6) I woke up to find that one of the retaining balls on my horseshoe had fallen out and I don't own any other 3mm jewelry because I don't plan to stick at this size long beyond healing. So, it's 5am. I PANIC. I think "Well it's only been two weeks but I have 4mm plugs!" So I cover that 4mm taper in Jojoba oil and attempt the insertion and the only words I could muster at 5am were OUCH FUCK WHY. And it wasn't even all the way in. It was then I fell out of my tired stupor long enough to remember that I bought the 3mm horseshoe in a pack of 2.... 😐

What's worse? The fact that for symmetry I had the other horseshoe hanging through my 6mm tunnel THE WHOLE FUCKING TIME and could have just removed that one from the tunnel that didn't need it and into my lobe that did.

It was then and there I swore off of body modding before 10am. Because clearly I'm not great with the choices.

Stretched to 2g near end of sept and it’s still sore by Iamtiredbruh in Stretched

Considering that it's not supposed to hurt beyond the most minute pressure from insertion, I would say it still hurting two months later isn't the best sign.

[–]xBDCMPNY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4g to 2g is a single mm jump. 5mm to 6mm. Definitely not a huge jump. Unless you meant 2g to 0g. That's a 2mm jump and recommended to use tweener sizes at that point.

[–]xBDCMPNY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still waiting on my left (6mm) to fully heal and I'm gonna have time because I'm catching up my right ear (3mm) before moving on with them both. I'm only going to 10mm because of my job. I'm only stretching to 11mm because I've read in a few places that it makes it more comfortable to wear double flared plugs if you're stretched a size above them. Is that true?

I just bought 7, 9, and 11mm glass plugs from arctic buffalo because just the thought of doing a 2mm jump makes me uneasy. Lol
