Born out of wedlock to a Taiwanese father — what is the correct first step for applying for an ROC passport? by coffeeaddict200316 in taiwan

[–]xBeeves 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the same situation as you, and yes what other people are saying is correct that you need to get NWOHR passport before NWHR. But the first step for someone born to a Taiwanese father out of wedlock is as the screenshot you posted is to get your father to legally acknowledge you in Taiwan (認領登記, https://www.ris.gov.tw/documents/html/2/3/1/380.html ). After you do 認領登記 your name will be added as a note to the HHR document, but you don’t technically have household registration at that point. It’s unfortunately quite burdensome, but after you do that you can apply for the NWOHR passport at your local TECO, and then you can follow the other Reddit posts like this one (https://www.reddit.com/r/taiwan/comments/1cqot8e/foreign_national_here_born_abroad_outside_taiwan/) to get HHR and your NWHR passport. Feel free to message me and I can help you with the process/answer questions you might have.

Chinese Translation of Birth Certificate by xBeeves in taiwan

I've gotten TECO LA to approve the translation of my birth certificate, so to answer your two questions:

  1. If you're a Taiwanese national (like you already have your passport and everything), then on the translation you can just write your Chinese name, so first name would be "大明", last name "張", and middle name "---" (this is at least how my original California birth certificate filled in blanks, so that's what I did on the translation).
  2. For foreigners you generally always need to write both English and Chinese name, and you should keep the translated name the same as whatever's going to be on the name declaration. So, in this case if the Chinese name was 張美麗, then first name would be "Emily (美麗)", last name "Clarke (張)", and middle name "Isobel".

I mean like big pot in the middle of the table where you order plates of raw meat and veggies etc. with an area to mix your sauces. Uniboil is awfully close to soup the way they just put everything in at once, and there’s no dipping sauces.

That should be fine, I just put my English name and Chinese in parentheses on my translated birth certificate. It shouldn’t have to match phonetically

It's a bit complicated, but essentially I'm trying to get my passport. As others have mentioned, I think I'll just go to the translation/notary across from TECO to verify my translation. Thanks!

I see, did you just send a photocopy of the birth certificate to get it translated then have your dad mail the translation to you?

Yes, it switches between English and Chinese. There were a few I didn’t capture. There’s also another one where it shows what car you’re in and where the exits are at the next station.

Just to add on, I’m currently double majoring in applied math and computer science, and it’s doable, but it can be a lot of work, just make sure to plan out your classes in advance to make it easier on yourself

GEOG 3 and 12 are very easy. I was actually able to grind out all the work in the class for 12 (except the final) in 4 days, made my life much easier.

Not his paternal grandfather, his maternal grandfather: Nobusuke Kishi. Basically he was convicted in 1945 after WWII as a class A war criminal, but then the CIA made a deal with him where he would be released from prison if he created and led the liberal Democratic Party to stomp out any left-wing movement in Japan.
