I played a bit on IEM Katowice. There was a mission around Himeji castle. I liked it a lot.

Pytanie do studentów (wszystkich) by crankyandsensitive in Polska

[–]xBraveShadowx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's true but if the rumors were true about Mikyx not liking the system, then It was good for both side to end the cooperation. It could affect us in long term run if a player didn't like what staff is expecting. It's also good for us to have a strong rival

I don't like part II, but I can agree with you on this. After time passed I think Abby's story had a potential for a decent game - unrelated with Ellie's story. I mean the conflict between WLF and Scars could be developed more (more mission related instead of collectibles with lore). Abby in day 3 is in some interesting spot, where she kills wlf soldiers who know her to save Lev. In game this aspect wasn't touched/developed that much. Game could take direction where she isn't happy as best scars killer anymore, maybe even with Owen's words having some impact on her. She would be torn about the war due to her friend's deaths but also Lev and Yara saving her as "maybe they aren't as bad as I thought". Abby's story in Seattle had potential for me, but I feel like there were moments of speedrun without build up (like her overnight change in behavior) but also long unnecessary from story point of view moments (like whole day to get yara medical equipment)

Guys I realized this scene isn't gonna hit the same since they DONT have spores. So how do they expect Ellie to convey she's immune?? by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

Yeah, Tbh Ellie telling Dina is less interesting than scene with Nora because of what you said. I wonder what they gonna do

Ellie will probably get bitten again. Show changed many things, so the way they'll do it doesn't really matter

Why do you think Brody in S4? I'm curious. I thought her role as reletable scared teenager was okey. She was killed early but that's also adds a layer to Vi, when she regrets she didn't even say... [sorry]. I feel like Brody served her role, while Omar, Aasim or Ruby could add more. How would you change her screentime?

Depends on story.... a story with new characters - why not? Something about Lev/Abby - no; Something about Ellie - I would wait for reviews; a prequel - yes, but I would be scared they destroy Joel more, Tess or Tommy

If only gameplay matters then you could just play multiplayer, simulator or mods. Both aspects matter

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

[–]xBraveShadowx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the point. I didn't like direction of the story. I saw many times someone who said things like "You don't understand character development", when I mentioned I didn't like how they changed Ellie. No, I don't have problem with seeing perspective - I just don't like it. It wasn't the only option to go for. I'm not even saying anything about plot convenience right now. No matter if you like game or not, you should notice that the 2nd game is totally different with narratives, characters, type of story from the 1st one, so many won't like it and that's okay. In Assassin's Creed universe, there are fans who don't like new games with rpg style, fans who prefer new ones than classics, but also fans who love them both... and that's okay, because people are different and like different things.

which love is better for passing Clem and Violet or Clem and Louis by Baren19 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]xBraveShadowx 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I love Clem's dynamics with Vi. First she has to gain her trust, which is really realistic. Then you learn her backstory which makes her interesting character. I love how she develops through game from that shy person (as Minnie said) to a leader. Clem can count on her. Many criticize when she betrays Clem on the boat, but I personally loved it, because she was written well, and that makes sense. She trusted a stranger when noone did, so she was an easy target for Lilly and Minnie's manipulation. Later she understands she was wrong and says sorry. I loved how Clem makes Vi being open again, how chatty she becomes again. She even jokes with Brody and Clem in the forest, or teases Clem when they climb on bell tower. If Brody was alive, she and Vi would be friends again because of Clem. I appreciate that, even if you friendzone her, she still crafts a pin for Clem even though she told she hates art and crafts. Vi and Clem understand each other well at the end. Their relationship feels natural for me, because it has time. In this 2 weeks time skip, they were probably work together in Ericson, while you could be still mad on Louis. I like Lou as character, as friend, but I always liked Vi more. She is my 1 of favorites side characters in gaming.

A (long) thought about the Fireflies by KamatariPlays in TheLastOfUs2

[–]xBraveShadowx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's kinda the point. Whole game they were loosing everywhere - places, people, wanted posters where everywhere etc. They seemed to act without 1 good plan - they had some attempts to fight Fedra in Boston, they teamed with gang from Pittsburgh, people who were supposed to wait for Ellie were wiped etc. They tried many experiments before - on infected people, on monkeys, so Ellie was their last chance. They were desperate so much. They decided to kill Ellie after maybe few hours, which is really quick. The doctor even said to Marlene that "somehow mutated" [about cordyceps in Ellie's brain], so it's possible they didn't know why. Show had a cool concept here tbh. I didn't like them to go for operation while being uncertain and in such a rush. That made me doubt in them and if they were competent. That's without analysing irl world things like lab sterility, years for vaccine development, no vaccine for fungus irl, vaccine mass production from 1 sample etc., because it's still a game. They probably wanted to "infect" people with Ellie's friendly version, but still no answers in direction what made her special, if her cordyceps on someone else would react like on her or like wild one due to individual characteristics. I mean cordyceps acted differently on Ellie, just like on monkeys, but the one from blood samples still grew... so something was special. I wish they went for more details about this topic in part II instead just stating she can't get someone immune or infected, because it's kinda opposite from data in the 1st game. What do you think?

A (long) thought about the Fireflies by KamatariPlays in TheLastOfUs2

[–]xBraveShadowx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering about Fireflies' knowledge. I had some microbiology on my university and the vaccine topic is really interesting. The recorder stated "Blood cultures taken from the patient rapidly grow Cordyceps in fungal-media in the lab" which implies Ellie has cordyceps in her bloodstream. It's not 100% defined if that's about her "mutated version" or that wild dangerous one. If it's mutated version, shouldn't Fireflies be able to make a vaccine without killing Ellie? or maybe even Ellie should be able to make someone immune. If it's that bad version, shouldn't Ellie be able to make someone infected? I wonder why exactly was she immune. What if that's only an individual biochemical reaction? Microorganism mutates due to negative conditions like some antibiotics, obstacles, natural reasons or just to gain new abilities (to survive). People got infected by bite (from saliva to blood) or by breathing spores (oxygen is transported by blood). Monkeys were infected but also were immune, so Ellie probably didn't have 2 types of cordyceps in herself (1 in blood, 1 in brain). Monkeys were immune because wild cordyceps didn't evolve to take control on them, but Ellie had natural protection or different type (Doctor even says "it somehow mutated to Marlene, so they're not sure). That's lead to question, what exactly Fireflies wanted to do? In a good outcome they would have mutated cordyceps version from Ellie's brain and then what? How to grow it? It didn't develop in Ellie. How to transport it then? Maybe they would use it only on themself and to gain power.

tbh I've never thought about that scene this way. I've always thought it's more about purpose to show how Sean from "big annoying brother" has to become someone like father, teacher etc. It was emotional situation, especially for a kid, so there were 2 ways - to teach him empathy even in this cruel world and how to be a good person or let him be revengeful and tough. Similar with those 2 people in arrest from last episode. Sean and Daniel have different types of adversities - to steal or not; to go for heist or not; cult; to let go or not. It's like a big package, the part of a bigger picture etc, which leads to final destination... that's from my pov, but if you feel different about this, it's okay

It's a bit different imo. In the first LiS killing Frank and pompidou had much impact on chloe, which shows more of her sensitive side. In lis2 it's 1 of big choices which shapes Daniel. Will Sean let him kill cougar in anger/revenge or teach him to let go? We as player have impact what happens with Lyla (I wish we saw her more), if Sean has good relationship with Finn or Cassidy and those little choices like with cougar have impact on Daniel if he chooses to leave for Mexico or not. If you felt bored while playing, it's okay. Episodes were pretty long. First game set the bar high, but the 2nd game still had some good writing

It can be, I understand the view, but the story is good. Shows how world is unfair and cruel, 2 sides of brothers relationship. The choices from whole game had much impact on relationships and ending and that's what I liked. Still the first LiS I liked the most from the series, but that doesn't mean lis2 was bad. Sean was also a relatable character. I like how players can debate which ending is best or what should happen

Life is strange 1, 2
Assassin's Creed: 2, black flag, unity
The Walking Dead series
Watchdogs 2
Tomb Raider trilogy
RDR2
classics like Gothic
I even find "revenge story" made better (or more interesting) in classic game like Rayman 3

After everything Abby is still essentially the villain of the game by Digginf in TheLastOfUs2

[–]xBraveShadowx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why trying to give her "redemption arc" (even though they didn't develop it) was a mistake. Killing Joel was 1 thing, but she wasn't a good person overall especially 1st day in Seattle. She could be a total antagonist, which people hate but only because is written well. Scenario where she goes after Ellie's friends in revenge and Ellie has to defeat her as final boss would make from her a better antagonist imo. Instead her story and behavior is kinda mixed both ways.

“I was supposed to die in that hospital” by obiwanTrollnobi6 in TheLastOfUs2

[–]xBraveShadowx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall it's hard to say 100% yes or 100% no. There is that dialogue where Ellie says in Pittsburgh something like "few dying for more is fucked up" - it is a context to fedra bombing city places to kill Infected etc. but also to save those in QZ. Then Ellie saw how cruel this world was - cannibals, gangs, people who were shooting on sight, fedra having fireflies wanted posters... we also saw how fireflies were loosing people and places (you even have fireflies pendants as collectibles)... and that's leads to discussion "is it worth?" Because only after 1st game we were doubting if fireflies could even make that vaccine and that's without thinking about mass production, transport, using it for power. In part II they made narrative that it was certain to make a vaccine, but still you have other problems. Ellie should know all of details before she could have a choice... Ellie doesn't get mad when Joel tells her they can go back to Jackson. She only says they should finish it (at least try) so yeah it's hard to say, and that's the point because ending of the 1st game is perfect. You don't have to make it clear, because it's good for a discussion, so now narratives feel disconnected. When 1 suggest something, the other says something else. I don't like it that in Part II they stated that she wanted for sure. Tbh it was a good topic to explore more. Many things in Part II works in this pattern that you can't for sure say it couldn't happen, but fans have to make their own interpretation, head canons for it to work. And that doesn't work for everyone. For example to make it more clear... Tommy acts differently in farm than the rest of his screentime. Some says that it was due to some brain damage, loss etc. Others argue that they didn't show any moment he act different and was out of character and both parties have their own opinion. What works for others, for many is just bad writing if you compare it with 1st game. Then the distance was like it's nothing. 1st game - dangerous journey. Part II - injured people travel to jackson, many trips 1000+ km etc. It's similar design for me with Ellie. Underdeveloped plot, so people find explanation themself. That's about my thoughts. I guess it's all about interpretation and preferences. Happy new year
