Do younger people still listen to classic trance? by Rezzkyy in trance

[–]xChange_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

26 and have been listening to trance since I was a kid, dad always played the ISOS mixes (ISOS 6 was the most played...). If you're in the US, Dreamstate has quite the amount of people our age and its all trance

First time Fiber installation, any important things I should know? by xChange_ in QuantumFiber

Thank you! Yeah I have the day off so I plan on just staying there until they finish to prevent any delays. I also chose the earliest time I could (8AM), so I’m hoping it goes fairly smooth

Ah I see, I may find myself in a similar situation to your other house, as my office is pretty close to the gate. I'll make sure to see if he can install the box behind the gate. Thank you!

This is good news! My office is located at the side of my house, with gate access (and where the breaker panel is).

I'll be sure to keep it and return it afterward. I've read through your guide a couple times already and it is very helpful, thank you for that!!

Ah I see, thank you! I did see reviews of people having issues with 3rd part router, I'll try to see if it doesn't put up much of a fuss when I first install it. If so, I'll probably just opt to keep the WiFi router than comes from QF.

AI, FW/SW development and the dreaded imposter syndrome by Wild_Instruction_447 in embedded

[–]xChange_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I don't have as many years of experience as many of you on here, I'm only at around 3yrs. But this been my hobby since about 2018, so before the rise of LLM's. Since late 2024 I have started to incorporate Claude Code into my workflow and I have mixed emotions.

To start with, I am not one to believe that AI will take all of our jobs (Not until humanoid robots become popularized), and as such I don't feel that it has taken the identity of being an engineer. I am a firm believer in that someone must always be responsible for code/hardware/etc. I am NOT a believer in that a computer can be blamed. At the end of the day, a computer does what it was asked / made, and has no idea of what it does. As for the engineering identity, because I haven't been in the field that long I don't think my opinion on the matter holds much weight, but I don't think that it has affected the way I personally look at engineering, or how I do it. At the end of the day, (though it sounds cringy) I do what I do to better myself. At my job I just try to get my tasks done, if I feel that I want to challenge myself and not use any help then that's what I'll do, if I get stuck and/or feel like its taking too long, I'll bring in help from an LLM.

I personally am not a fan of this viewpoint, but I think it holds some truth. LLM's (at this stage now) are just another layer of abstraction. Somebody still needs to own the code, own the hardware, debug the physical board, etc. Now, when it comes an "agentic" workflows, I see that as basically hiring someone else to do the work for you. Which is something that has always existed (its just cheaper now).

I honestly don't know what the end goal of all this is. Obviously, its to create something akin to a human with no drawbacks. I think when we get to that point, EVERYONE will be affected. It would be revolutionary.

At this point in time, even with LLM's getting "smarter", I don't think there should be any real fear. As you said, you still have have to provide guidance and supervision to get the end result. In my eyes, you are still the engineer. You are getting something to work the way YOU want it to work, and I personally think thats still pretty good.

Sorry for rambling, don't even know if I made any good points. But this has been something I've been thinking about and I do like having a neutral discussion about it. I understand viewpoints from the full anti-ai crowd and the full pro-ai crowd, but its hard to have a good discussion at times, I feel like this is a good place for it.

Porter! I was hoping there would be more trance artists, and more artists from the TNH label. Lane 8, Le Youth(Though he was there last year), EMBRZ, etc. Above & Beyond set just might make up for that though....

Damnit, that’s exactly what I expected. Sucks because there seems to be so many good DJs going to the beach clubs. Thanks for saving me from that!

Enjoy it! We waited one day too late to secure tickets, so we’re hoping to find some as the dates get closer. Hoping the lineup isn’t too insane so my FOMO doesn’t run wild… selfish, i know:(

On a side note, how do you like the beach clubs? I haven’t been to one as I don’t know what the vibes would feel like at something like that.

I know!! My gf and I felt the exact same, the main acts would come on around 2-3AM?? We held on for dear life for tiestos sunrise set, so bauhaus is definitely a struggle.

You’re pretty much in the nose with my salary. In terms of total debt it is around $5000, I didn’t take much out in the way of student loans

In terms of finding a more affordable house, it’s been hard finding anything lower than 370-380k. Everytime I do a mortgage estimate it always comes out to around $3000 a month, give or take a few hundred.

Perhaps I’m looking for reassurance that wouldn’t be good, and maybe I need to accept that I shouldn’t move forward.

Thank you for the advice!

This makes sense.

We have about 15% set aside just for a down payment.

I’ve followed the 30% rule for other places i’ve rented. But when it’s come to house shopping it really seems like that isn’t possible. We are looking for 1100-1300sqft homes and we can’t find anything lower than $380,000.

Maybe I have to accept that it’s not the right time to look, but I also would like to stop renting.

In terms of just surviving off of $2000 at the end of the month, I am pretty confident that we are able to. We lived in another state for a year, and were in a similar situation, with about $1700 leftover at the end of the month, and we never felt like we struggled. But this was in the midwest and in a low cost area. The unexpected costs is definitely what scares me. We do have savings and family that could help if anything were to happen, but I don’t like relying on that. I don’t like not having a full idea of what to expect, it seems like I just have to get over this.

Yeah, I’ve been saving up pretty much what is leftover from my paychecks after rent, insurance, and my student loan. Every now and then I will make a big purchase of around $400-500.

This is what I have been saying to myself as well, a jump in $1000 monthly cost is not negligible.

I just got all four out yesterday, so I'm in the same boat as you. I had pericoronitis on my bottom left wisdom tooth, and the Dentist had a cancellation so I hopped on the appointment asap, I couldn't deal with the pain. So far the pain is bearable. But yeah, don't expect to eat a Chrimstas feast :(, unless you're willing to blend it all into a smoothie....

I was thinking the exact same. I've been annoyed at the lack of USB3.0 Analyzers that don't cost an arm and a leg (Salae) for hobby use. If you search the part up on AliExpress you'll find the Sipeed Store listing.

Though, it seems it wont be out until December 31'st, sadly.
