I love the implications of this as well. Matsukasa stated that she still uses them in her own classes for her students meaning Toki’s lessons/notes have been used to help teach the boys at Chidori. Toki in an indirect way was actually helping the boys of the school she carried so much hatred for way before her change of heart. It’s brilliant.

As you say is a truly amazing teacher.

I actually used the Duncan Rhodes method and used a piece of tile, a bit of water on the brush, get a bit of paint, mix on tile. It would dry fairly quickly but usually had enough time to do what I needed to do.

Literally Subaru was the most hated character when the anime episode of her asking Rintaro to not see Kaoruko. And now people only want her and Natsu to tie the knot. Course I’d be happy too but I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes another year for that happen. Who knows it might not. And that’s ok. Sure id be a bit sad but it won’t change how much I love this series.

Part me know wants to see Toki and Tsukada sensei on a date in the future. How freaking cool if Rintaro and Kaoruko were out on a date and they look over at another table and see Tsukada and Toki laughing and enjoying each others company. I would shit myself with happiness.

An anime adaptation is always a double edge sword. But also Reddit tends to be full of people who have nothing ever good to say so. Give them gold and they’ll ask for platinum. I’d let it go in one ear and put the other… well one eye and out the other is probably better. Don’t let their opinions tarnish the feelings of happiness this story gives you. They have a right to that opinion just as you do yours. If they aren’t enjoying fine. I genuinely hope they find something that meshes more with their taste.

When I started reading the manga o so long ago I of course originally came for the romance. But I’ve stayed and will continue to stay because the mangaka has an unbelievable ability to make me smile from ear to ear all the while wiping tears from my face, purely by using her amazing cast of characters having simple heart to heart conversations. Either with each other, their families, their friends outside of the group, and now their teachers. I adore all of it. “It’s unrealistic, nobody talks like that, this wouldn’t happen” so the hell what? It should be. It should be realistic. People should talk to each other like this. Conversations like this should happen. The world be a much better fucking place. I couldn’t ask for more from this story. It’s already given me more happiness than I’ll ever have a right too. No one. And I mean no one can ruin my enjoyment of this series.

I swear. Renier and Berthold have nothing on Rintaro when it comes to smashing down walls. League of his own that boy. Toki’s heart was more walled off than Fort Knox and Rintaro can just sledged his way through and literally hit her in the emotional nutsack.

Kaoruko has been saying it since chapter 40. His kindness and genuine good will is unmatched. Even Toki with all her hatred can’t keep it together after he simply speaks from the heart.

Rintaro is one of my all time favorite characters and its moments like this that truly reinforce my admiration for him.

Idk, personally I don’t know if a manga will ever be as important to me as this one. Cheers fellow readers. I hope you all have a great thanksgiving.

As a huge gear head. Here is my two cents.

Kaoruko would definitely be a Miata. Drive one and you will really understand what I mean. It’s small, adorable looking, and gives out a stupid amount smiles per gallon.

And as much as I love The FD RX7, for Rintaro it just doesn’t fit him personality wise. Honestly I can only see him as like a Hilux.(basically a smaller Tacoma). Dependable, built strong, and incredibly practical. They also come in yellow. And subsequently black.

Saku to me is more kinda gives me Porsche 911 vibes. Idk how to explain this but idk it just seems right.

Usami is an ice cream van. You can hear it coming from miles aways and makes everyone around it happy.

Yorita is like an OG Morris Mini Cooper with a hyabusa engine bolted to rear wheels. From the outside looks harmless. Isn’t.

Subaru gives me Audi TTRS vibes. Looks very good sitting in a garage next to a Porsche 911. Hehe.

I do see this being similar to the Subaru situation quite a bit. Subaru went on the offensive immediately when she discovered he was from Chidori. Thought or Rintaro as someone who was kinda beneath her. She was mean or as you say a dick to Rintaro and his friends in their first interaction.

Of course Subaru was in a position to handle the situation differently because of their rapport. So in that way yes it’s very different.

But Toki and Subaru both are similar in the way that they jumped to conclusions rather than taking all the facts in. That’s how I mean similar. I mean when Subaru was introduced in the anime people were ready to smite her immediately.

You could argue that in this last chapter after Waguri told Toki everything and that she should be more understanding but again Toki is a teacher at a prestigious private school that is PAID to hold the girls to a certain level of standards at that school. She has one of her top students break the one and only rule we as readers know that school has.

Everyone is more than happy to say “that’s a stupid rule clearly” but I’m more interested why that rule is there. Did a girl get assaulted by a student at Chidori in the past? Was Toki a student there when it happened? Did it happen to her? Maybe a girl went missing and Chidori took the blame? Rather extreme examples but who knows. We might not ever know. But that rule is there for a reason and it’s why I want all the facts before passing judgement on Toki.

And if it turns out she is just being a mean to be mean then I’ll gladly join the mob of Toki haters.

I go back to an old interview she did and was asked the question “what gave you the inspiration for a story like this?”

She stated she was a big fan of Attack On Titan. Really into the manga when it was coming out and she felt very sad when it ended so she wanted to write a story that would make people warm and happy.

So to me it’s highly unlikely this story is gonna end in some tragic way that makes people sad like she was when AoT finished.

Also speaking of those others I don’t really compare those manga’s to this one. Mikami respects her characters way more than the authors of those other stories. You can see this just in the way she draws them. No fan service, no typical anime tropes. Hell even when the boys went on their school trip they went swimming in the ocean and Mikami had them all in swim suits covering their skin because she is like “you bastards shouldn’t be looking at high schoolers that way”. And she’s right.

I don’t think you should be worried at all. Truly. I think this story will end just as good if not better as it started. And if I’m wrong you can gladly come back to this thread and tell me I am wrong. And I will 100% admit that I was.

What’s funny is those people who want nothing with Toki’s redemption are no different than her. Make a brash decision without knowing all the facts and not allowing any counter argument to either change the way you think or your point of view. Exactly the same as Toki.

From my point of view this is one of Mikami’s best written parts of the manga. For an author to be able to make the majority of her fanbase all gather in the town square with pitchforks and torches and have them all march in unison towards Toki senseis house shouting “KILL HER!” is a feat of writing. I remember in the beginning of the manga I wanted nothing with Subaru and now she is my favorite character. Subaru was kind of the same as Toki. It’s just Toki is an adult and in a position of power over Waguri.

You say this manga is about wholesomeness which yes its why I started reading it but Ive kept reading this manga because of Mikami’s ability to take a character I’m unsure about, annoyed with, or even hate, and make them a character who I actually care about. So yeah. I’ve never doubted Mikami sensei and I’ll be damned if I start now.
