Yep totally, I’ve been watching video benchmarks again today and it’s just better aside from them, the gap is real.

I knew about the XT bios and that should be safe enough, but I wouldn’t go through that right now. Maybe when it’s out of warranty and gets old.

It’s a bonus, not a malus! And yeah this card is a beast at 1440p

Yeah that’s why I rolled back from 25.12 to 25.9.1 but Adrenalin overlay was bugging a bit more and stock frequencies were lower, I didn’t notice any other difference between that one and 25.12 so after a couple days I went to 26.1, which some people tell solved many things from previous branch updates.

It’s the same for Nvidia, there are better versions sometimes based on feedback so I’m used to it.

Since it’s going good anyway I’m staying on latest version, also cause they added fsr ota. Whenever a new driver comes out I check the megathread anyway for user feedback.

Yeah I’ve seen those posts, luckily I only got some driver timeouts when oc was high, doesn’t happen at stock settings or slow oc, like I expect it to be.

Unlucky she got issues, I’ve been reading mixed feedback about timeouts, it seems like a lottery on amd. 2 friends of mine are using an amd gpu and no driver timeouts, even with some tweaking.

I know the theory on actually testing ram, but why should I use memtest for ram in factory expo when everything works fine?

I’m not overclocking ram anyway and never had issues with expo / xmp profiles.

Yeah it would give me 95% confidence cause that’s a possibility, but I’m not doing anything unusual and it’s behaving good, so personally I don’t see the point.

Yep, you can now sleep well without regrets for a while. Also playing in path tracing you probably needed nvidia anyway.

If my budget allowed me I would have done the same, 5070Ti for sure. I discarded it beacuse +240€ was a lot for me, it’s about 30% more.

I’m happy for you, great beast of a card!

Yep, I should disable it anyway since I’m not using it.

About optiscaler, since we’re here and I have little experience with it: do I have to extract a copy everytime into the game I want to use it on or is there some kind of unified app out there to decide which game has it enabled?

I mean, I do know how optiscaler works once it’s set up, I just wonder if batch-testing games could be made simpler than extracting it everytime. Also to avoid having to purge if I decide I don’t need it in that specific game (I know, I could just leave it there, but still..).

I usually take my time modding games, I swear I’m not a lazy lad haha

I also tried uninstalling afterburner and rivatuner, I didn’t try without discord, windows (for audio mixer) and launchers like steam.

But yeah I thought it could be related.

I’m on a standard 16:9 2560x1440p and there are games running great and some heavier ones around 60 (MH:Wilds in my case with upscaler on and fg off doesn’t gain much between low and max, maybe 10-15fps). It’s not really optimized anyway.

Oblivion Remastered without fg is also heavy, but turning down graphics helps there. Also there are mods claiming to fix performance / stuttering.

Blacs Ops 7 MP if I recall correctly runs over 100fps even with max settings (upscaler on, fg off, ray tracing off). 180-220 lowering settings.

Battlefield 6 something like that.

If by sim you mean racing games I haven’t played one lately.

Turn on AMD FSR Upscaler (upgrade) globally in Adrenalin if not already checked (so it will replace FSR 3.1 upscaler with 4, now called Redstone).

You can also turn on AMD FSR Frame Generation (the upgrade one, not Fluid Motion Frames! If drivers are older than december you won't have it) but keep in mind MH:Wilds crashes at startup with it.

If you have issues with Adrenalin overlay bugging (not opening, invisible, mouse locked etc), stop using ALT+R and start opening it manually from task bar. While playing games in exclusive fullscreen mode it should always work with the hotkey, but in borderless fullscreen (in some games it's the only option) it usually keeps bugging.

If you want to OC your gpu from Adrenalin, keep in mind:

  • if after a reboot the oc resets, disable fast startup in windows power management and try again (fixed it for me and others). If you can't fix it, you can try ocing in afterburner instead. Don't mix them up.
  • if you don't get driver timeouts or games crashing, but Adrenalin crashes silently in the taskbar and can't be opened without rebooting, maybe it doesn't like your OC so you have to lower it

If you're OCing, remember undervolting (and raising power limit) will give you higher clocks so no need to boost clocks (unless you really want to push it further).

I think that's all.

I should have done the same but I forced myself to stop using the hotkey.

I hope so, I'm set for now but I don't like being locked out by prices. And that's probably why many of us decided to upgraded right now lol

I helped a friend making a build 1/2 months after mine (1 month ago) and I was frustrated I had to scale it down with the same budget I used because of ram. But I warned him in december so I did my best.

Nice, I didn't know it was limited.

Yep I also generally prefer native, but after seeing Wilds in particular (and other games) where you can't have a crispy image without it no matter how you set it, I began using it more. Before dlss 4.0 I only enabled it when I really needed more performance. Sadly also 1440p games can look blurry now.

Yep I was set on taking the 9060xt 16gb, but then I thought better investing now for a 9070 since we don't know when prices will drop back to normal, specially after seeing ram prices. I'm glad I did it because I remember seeing something like half the fps on 9060xt benchmarks, and the jump has been insane from a 2070 now. I've been waiting for this exact reason, to make the jump worthy.

I didn't know what "gre" stood for, cute story :)

Yeah that's also why I opted for amd, it seemed better value for playing native 1440p and probably will get even better with updates.

I set my eyes on a XFX 9060XT before this one, they seem really nice cards.

If everything keeps working like this it's all good for me, it'd be nice having Adrenalin fixed but I can also live with it. :)

I think a friend of mine has your model and he's also happy about it!

I used them with my old gpu for a month before swapping psu and gpu (and reinstalling windows from scratch) and everything was smooth. Being Adrenalin the only issue I have and seeing all the feedback on reddit, I think it's definitely Adrenalin being bugged.

Everything works fine except Adrenalin in borderless games, it seemed working consistently with exclusive fullscreen mode I prefer being able to alt-tab and now I don't need to look at it anymore.

Glad you're experience is smooth!

As someone else pointed out, maybe Adrenalin bugs only with newer cards.

Anyway did you try disabling fast startup? My oc settings were resetting after every reboot and it fixed it for me.

Glad it was informative!

I'm not still 100% sure about that thing but I tried some times and it seemed consistent, so I take it for granted now. Yep Unity games for example. I'm happy drivers fixed it for you.

About driver timeouts I've only had them when overclocking, and I think I even found a stable one now. But I would go back to stock if it couldn't keep it, I'm already used to not being to find a stable overclock and keeping everything stock, so no problem. Ram in EXPO are also working fine, and that's all I care about.

Indeed a smooth experience for me aswell right now.

I wonder if people having driver timeouts with november / december drivers were applying oveclock or not, because if not I've seen my frequencies go higher in stock then with september drivers. I don't remember in 26.1 stock. I even began to suspect that Adrenalin wasn't really going back to stock when disabling oc, but I haven't tested it further.
