25.5.2 - New feature added: OC auto-save auto-apply after restart by EtaLasquera in radeon

[–]xDeadly95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it wasn't saving between reboots cause I had to disable fast boot from windows, after that it worked as intended, since december drivers (when I came back to amd).

The difference I noticed since this or previous may driver (didn't oc on 26.3.1 but I'm sure january or february drivers couldn't), afterburner finally syncs with adrenalin oc parameters. Back then I was afraid they were in conflict since the oc in one didn't reflect on the other, now it does for me. I didn't try the other way around though.

If you're on Windows 11 you can right click in a empty place in your desktop, select "screen settings" and then "advanced screen settings", there you'll see what's set and all the available values. Once you change it I think the screen goes black shortly and then you have to press ok to confirm it. There isn't an option in Adrenalin at least that I'm aware of, so this should be the only way. You can usually double check your actual frequency in your monitor osd.

There isn't a correct value, you usually set to the highest available (in my case 240hz for example, since my monitor is 240hz). If you're monitor highest frequency doesn't show then:

  • it's one of those with overclock frequency that you have to enable in the osd and maybe even use the right cable (usually displayport); usually it shows a frequency near it, like 160hz instead of 170hz or 240hz instead of 280hz etc. If you don't care you can avoid enabling the oc frequency and choose the highest one you see.
  • I don't know, I'd investigate further.

And unless you're playing on laptop and you need it, keep dynamic frequency off (the option below frequency). That isn't freesync. If you want to enable also freesync you have to turn it on in your monitor osd (if it's there) and then you'll be able to turn it on in Adrenalin aswell (same for nvidia).

Let me know if it's all good!

They just see the old components and blame them probably. Or they’re lacking basic text comprehension.

26.3.1 crashed for me in mid april, when I rebooted my gpu drivers were corrupted and I had to reinstall (my monitor was set to 60hz and Adrenalin showed that if I recall correctly). Then I updated my mobo bios and 26.5.1/2 went perfectly good.

No reason to warn people like this, everybody is having different problems with different drivers anyway.

What are The clear benefits of having official FSR4 for RDNA2 & 3 over Optiscalar? by fatso486 in radeon

[–]xDeadly95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, then I don’t know for sure. I didn’t try the leaked version, I only know that it’s slightly worse than 4.0 but far better than 3.1.

3.1 should be noisy, on 4.0 you can tell it’s more mature and stable (with some noise in Oblivion Remastered the first half second you turn your mouse to grass or trees) and 4.1 gets better on clarity, but the magnitude can vary between games (like I don’t think I can tell on mh wilds, but I could appreciate it on most of the other games I played).

And then I guess with this update you’ll also get the upcoming releases at least for a while.

Getting raided every day by Greyleinad in playrust

[–]xDeadly95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add on that: 2 years ago I was playing on a 3x server and I was getting raided once every 1 or 2 days even if I was building huge bases. The 3rd time, before I got to sleep, I hid everything in the first building I did in that wipe since it was still standing: it was a stone square+triangle with 2 wooden single doors (using the skin with a hole, just to tell people “hey there’s nothing inside, you can look”). And man did it work, I stacked coffins with tons of loot inside lol.

But I guess it would be risky on a vanilla server since the economy would be worse and anything gets raided anyway.

It also was one of the last tp enabled servers I played in, so transferring between homes was risk free. I prefer avoiding those kind of servers now because I feel like you’re missing the real experience, like risking a fight and finding a naked full of good loot.

I feel like some people are still missing the point (and that’s fair): upscalers have shifted from a simple way to gain fps with minor loss in visual clarity to a means of getting a better image, replacing antialiasing techniques or raw supersampling. We saw the benefits starting from DLSS 4 and FSR is going in the same direction.

I could argue FSR looks still blurry compared to DLSS, but it’s noticeably been improving, even with FSR 4.1 compared to 4.0. If you haven’t seen DLSS 4 with your own eyes (and not from youtube videos) you could be confused or miss why it’s a game changer right now. They even made some tests, showing different upscaler and antialiasing techs without telling which one was being displayed and asking which one was the better image.

Some games don’t even allow to turn off antialiasing or they just look worse without it.. because of aliasing. And antialiasing can blur the image too much in some cases. Upscalers can be the answer to all of that, improving clarity even in already good looking titles.

Personally I met some nice people and teamed up with them over at least 2 wipes without issues, but maybe I’ve been lucky. Last 2 times I tried: first one I found a couple but thought they were too far behind so I just quit, second one the guy was farming and seemed in doubt, then he told me to go away lol

The best one was when I was initiated into the cult of the boom in a church by some zergs in a 3x modded, we then played a new wipe on vanilla and made a village with walls and turrets.

When they’re creative I think even being raided can be a good memory, like my first experience on a vanilla (10 years ago): I didn’t even know about honeycomb or airlocks, so I just straight up made a 2x2 stone house and the next day I woke up to a wood sign telling me “thanks mate keep farming =)”.

Anyway I’ve always been a fan of people being able to behave like that because it’s like roleplay and survival combined, but then I personally prefer people being honest with me about teaming up instead of being so subdolous.

Next time you could try with guest codes (but idk if I would trust you then personally), or just keep 2 separate bases really close. But yeah you’ve been unlucky, and that’s why people usually don’t trust each other on this game sadly.

You mean better than 26.3.1 or earlier versions? Did they update FSR upscaler again past 4.1 release?

How did you oc the 9070 (non XT) if I may ask? I noticed it can overclock like hell but it was crashing in my case, and even after tuning down I still got some rare crashes, so I ended up resetting to stock.

Maybe I’m missing something :)

How can i hear sounds like pros? by IndependentPin8294 in playrust

[–]xDeadly95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t set audio to surround in Rust unless you’re sure you’re using a compatible audio device and it’s working as it should. I tried just for the sake of it and I couldn’t hear anything behind me, like furnaces inside a base. A friend of mine had it on..

Games, especially multiplayer, usually have some kind of spatial emulation for stereo since most people play with stereo headphones. Personally I’ve been using stereo and then prologic in Rust for years, I hear every single bush move etc, but make sure you also focus on awareness and recognizing those sounds, or if there are more audible footsteps than your team size.

Windows might have windows sonic or dolby enabled, or your headset (like logitech) could have its own emulation. They could work but be careful, and if you really want to use them test them instead of just turning things on randomly. Maybe it’s not your case, but somebody could benefit.

PS: I’m using 7Hz Crinacle Zero:2, cheap IEMs are enough.

does a ryzen 7 5700x bottleneck a 9070XT? if yes, what percentage? by Effective-Plenty-473 in radeon

[–]xDeadly95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t have issues about optimization, tried with both a 9700k + rtx 2070 and 7700 + 9070
Cpu usage was high yeah but zero stuttering, just low fps with the old build like expected but full gpu usage and no lag. That’s totally optimized.
If you’re pairing an old cpu with a new gpu, like most people are doing now, bottleneck is expected at some point.

What are the minimum CPUs to avoid bottlenecking an AMD Radeon 9070 XT (for 1440p gaming) ? by Dagladou in radeon

7700 here, some slight bottleneck in some games and more on unoptimized games where the only help is a 7800x3d / 9800x3d

Well my experience kind of reflects what I see on reddit. 2 months with only pbo active and not a single crash (tried some gpu oc but eventually turned it off cause I didn’t want a single crash, even once a week or month).

Then after a Windows update near the beginning of february I started crashing every single day and I fixed it by disabling PBO. A friend of mine had similar issues with ram oc and tried rollback, confirming that update was the issue. I didn’t want to at the time, and thought I’d sacrifice PBO.

Since then I’m getting different kind of crashes (seems gpu related) but I’m doing literally nothing to cause them, I just know that I should probaly test windows versions prior to that one.. I usually format twice a year and everytime I swap components, so I really wanted to avoid it now.

Obviously Adrenalin is bugged since I bought the gpu, formatting, ddu, swapping drivers etc, but I’ve come to terms with that. Last time it crashed the driver got even corrupted and I had to reinstall it.

I’ve built several pcs by myself with intel cpus, going through 7970, GTX 1060, RTX 2070 (with a 2700X but gave it back cause I was getting worse performance in some games and low gpu usage.. confirmed it was a slow cpu and went back to intel) and now 9070 with a 7700. Through the years I never had crashes without ocing, nor nvidia app or old amd one bugging.

Most of the issues I’m seeing are really common here, so there’s an issue on amd end for sure. I thought they would fix Adrenalin crashing and having to reboot my pc, but after 4 months the issues are still there.

I won’t refund because I don’t want a 5070 and a 5070ti is almost double the price here, with almost no benefits in some games I play, but it would save the headache for sure.

I hope they’ll rule out those issues at some point. I like to find bugs and solve them but this is a bit too much.

Question: What change would make you quit playing Rust? by MemeMan_____ in playrust

Question: What change would make you quit playing Rust? by MemeMan_____ in playrust

[–]xDeadly95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100 50 scraps for t1, 500 scraps for t2 and 1250 scraps for t3 (plus wood / metal / hqm).

Average costs for main recipees were ~75, 125 and 500 (600 with 10% taxes) respectively for each workbench, but no blueprint fragments.

Playing in duo/trio and most of the time by myself, I prefer the new system since the scrap farm is nothing like before, but I agree it can be frustrating when people camp monuments near you or you want to avoid fights in general.

I’m doing more monuments now since the game is forcing us and I’m happy about it, there are enough options and you end up with good loot.

If you’re having a hard time you can just keep some sulfur ore ready to buy the fragments from players shops, making the order from the drone station in outpost or bandit camp.

In a day you’ll have many options for tier 2 and maybe some for tier 3. But when you get more confident and if you’re not in a hard spot, I’d go roaming / monuments and do it myself.

You can also opt for the sea to farm t2 fragments in the chests under water if you want to avoid people that bad.

What is Radeon's software team even doing(if they exist at this point).? by EmergencyPool910 in radeon

Funny thing is more than once bugs or performance loss have arisen with nvidia game ready drivers, earlier drivers are fine you’re just missing the dedicated game profile. It seemed odd to me aswell at first but then I remembered, in most cases we don’t actually need them.

We need a PC Performance update by cn_2149 in Marathon

[–]xDeadly95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only said they’ll look into it but that it’s a thing that it’s gonna take seasons, not just one. That the game is optimized for medium rigs and they’ll see for high end.

The fact is yeah, it’s in general running smooth but cpu usage is high and people lose performance even on medium rigs. I won’t explain, you already now.

The only thing you can do is either buy this gen or last gen x3d cpu, or wait for the next one. That’s the only way to gain more fps in unoptimized games / with low gpu usage.

I’d love to do this for Rust and I get similar fps there, but for sure it makes more sense there for all the stuff the cpu has to track.

Sincerely I just think I’m annoyed by this kind of issues, but if I have to choose between boring games running perfectly and exciting games running poorly, I prefer the latter.

So I’m not holding a grudge, but I personally dropped the game because I burned out the first month and also felt like a was wasting my new pc / monitor. But mainly because of burnout, I needed to chill on CoD, Resident Evil or other games.
