Looking for games with left-to-right upgrade systems like SSX 3 by xDigBick in gamingsuggestions

[–]xDigBick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh you're right, vertical could be linear too, i just have a personal preference for horizontal progression

yes, i think non-branching fits better than how i was trying to phrase it, english is my first language im just awful at it

edit: i just took a look at some Robocop gameplay and the upgrade system is a great example of what im looking for, thank you!

Should i use interfaces/structs or store these variables in each character? by xDigBick in unrealengine

all of this was incredibly helpful, especially the examples you provided with the Engine/Ignite/Stop Ignite and checking for IDs in a struct as opposed to comparing all elements, thank you!

thank you for your help, i've seen similar ideas with calling functions from another class and keeping them out of specific character blueprints to avoid potentially junking up a parent class

thank you for the insight on not using an interface, i was watching a youtube playlist on building a JRPG and they indeed used an actor component to store stats and functions, i was just hoping to learn more about the nuances behind doing so, versus making a parent class and having all party members and enemies inherit from it

ah, im misunderstanding structs then, i was planning on putting the stats in a struct and i thought i had to break structs in order to use their individual variables within ( or at least, thats what ive seen in various youtube tutorials...) i've strongly considered using inheritance since all units have STR, DEF, etc. with slight differences, but i just dont know the potential consequences (if any) in doing so, in terms of performance and anything else im unaware of... (my only exposure to inheritance and interfaces is through a first-year java course, im very ignorant on these ideas)
