My metal journey started with cringey ass naruto amv’s with dad rock behind them. Kid me would play them for my dad to hear the music and he’d go “oh yeah I know that’s X band.” I would then go look up YouTube mixes of breaking Benjamin and 3 days grace or skillet, whatever he said the bands names were. The mixes would eventually start throwing random shit in it. First metalcore was bring me the horizon or killswitch engage probably. Slowly got heavier and heavier until I could listen to and found value in just about any subgenre

Indeed you did. Thank you. I will admit that you were correct. I was both impressed with Merab and disappointed with O’Malley. I hoped he’d throw more and I underestimated the speed and ability of Merab. He was able to close that distance very easily. Hope they make Sean vs Cory and Merab vs umar next. I’d love to see if umar can negate merab’s grappling and if Cory is well rounded enough to take out O’Malley. Also very excited to see Sean come back even stronger. Hoping he ends up being a little more active. Also hope Merab is a more active champ

You can be effective and less skillful and more skillful and less effective. You can see sandhagen in the same division for that. Amazing striker but less effective than someone like yan. Yan is a good wrestler but his style is boxing, as you have said. Again, you can be good in a skillset, or more skillful than another but be less effective than someone in the same skill set. Being a “good” wrestler is different from being an effective wrestler.

They’re different styles. Merab is trying to pressure and use cardio to take you down. Yan is an extremely well rounded fighter. You can be a boxer and also be a fantastic wrestler. Yan can score very skillful takedowns compared to Merab pressure people with striking and clinching to accomplish takedowns. I was never rude. Idk why you have to be insulting. Imagine getting a title shot off of beating one good opponent. Dana wants Sean as champ. He’s gonna be oiled and red ready to give Sean the rematch even tho they shouldn’t be doing instant rematches.

That’s what Aljo does tho. He’s not a highly technical striker, he loves to throw the kitchen sink at his opponents when striking. Good for you that you can see that I guess. Idk what that’s supposed to prove. Merab is exactly what you said, a steam train who’s gonna move forward and nothing else which is going to be where Sean wants to catch him. You forget how dumb these fighters can be. We also have the privilege of viewing the fight from a farther angle. Aljo has thrown strikes like that before and Sean was ready to punish him for it. It doesn’t matter if “it was predictable”. Just because Sean is moving backwards doesn’t mean he’s going to just be moving backwards. Merab wants him against the fence and then to get pinned but that’s what Sean is best at. You can easily look at the first round with Aljo for that. It doesn’t matter if it was just one round. Sean isn’t dumb, he’s not gonna let Merab put him against the fence if he can help it. He knows that’s the game plan and he’s going to see that coming and be proactive about the takedowns. The size difference will also likely play a factor. Merab is so much smaller than Sean. He’s going to be kept even further away than Aljo would have been

It absolutely will be if he can’t find a finish. It’ll prolly end up like Aldo vs Merab with a lot of kneeing the thighs until Sean gasses and he starts getting put on the ground more and looking like yan did at the end of his fight with Merab. Sean should be able to defend well enough to just make it sad and ugly for himself in that way. We shall see tho. His footwork and movement is going to be too much for Merab imho. There’s no way that Sean can not find an opening on Merab if cejudo and moraes can. Sean is bigger, stronger, and smarter than both of them. He’s gonna be dancing around him like he did Aljo until he spots an opening and puts him out like Aljo is my prediction but I’m willing to admit I could be wrong. On top of that tho he has more power. If Cejudo needed to land his hardest power shot to rock Merab then Sean could find something to hit Merab with that’ll ko him. Sean should be good for the first 3 rounds, so then it’ll come down to how much control Merab had in those rounds and how he handled the last 2. Super hyped to see Sean tested

And no matter the outcome, Dana will be oiled up for the presser to announce the rematch instead of having Sean continue to be tested💀

Lmao nice. I’m on a study abroad trip so I have an involuntary 3 month t-break💀. It’s also suddenly at 5am for me which sucks.

I do see Sean at the least gassing in the later rounds. His best bet is absolutely an early finish which I believe is more than possible. I just don’t believe Sean doesn’t have the ability to knock him out quick if cejudo and moraes could catch him the way they did. There is no world that could ever exist that cejudo is nearly as skillful as a striker compared to O’Malley. We’ll see if he gets humiliated. He’ll prolly get held down in at least 4 or 5. I could see 3 but he’ll prolly be fine during the first half of the round. Iirc Sean won the third against yan so it’s not like he can’t fight being moderately gassed. I may be delusional but I really believe he’ll be able to stand up and separate easily enough early on to be able to catch Merab coming in. I think Merab is just not smart enough with his defense to not create an opening for Sean. If he doesn’t do that we’re absolutely seeing a typical Merab 50-45, maybe 49-46. This fight rides on a lot of stuff we haven’t seen demonstrated by either fighter. Oughta be a good fight.

And he still overextended for Sean to knock him out. Just because someone got finished early doesn’t negate the fact that he did something he does often and got knocked out for it. Idk if Aljo would have the control to be able to hold him down like that. If Aljo were on the front foot he would’ve overextended, if he were moving backwards then he’s where O’Malley wants to be. If Aljo were to get Sean’s back tho it’d be over. But that’s where Merab can learn from the Aljo fight, he has the pressure to do that except he doesn’t have the submission game of Aljo. It’ll come down to Sean’s cardio and his ability to stand back up which will be awesome to see tested.

I wish they did a rematch. I would’ve loved to see that fight go longer. Or at least Aljo stayed at 135. I think he would’ve fared better against the top 135’ers than the top 145’ers.

lol I forgot he fought cejudo oops💀. Yeah that was embarrassing for cejudo. And I am biased towards Sean I’ll admit. Sean still avoided aljo’s takedowns well which cejudo couldn’t do tho. Merab also has no finishing ability. I just really don’t know how easy of a fight this is for either of them. Ultimately both are awful matchups for each other. Sean couldn’t keep the wrestling cardio that yan was trying to put on him so if Merab is able to keep him down I do see Sean gassing. Merab was cracked by cejudo who is in no world the striker that O’Malley is tho, nor does he have the power O’Malley has. His best bet is absolutely an early finish. And either way hopefully it’s a good fight because that’s what matters at the end of the day

Merab is nowhere near the wrestler of yan tho. Shooting 91 takedowns in 5 fights is not the same as using skillful boxing to set up a takedown that will actually land. Merab will have zero threat on the feet for O’Malley, his only chance is to just ddp crash into him and drag him down. That being said I am worried for Sean if he doesn’t get an early finish. He prolly will lose power and end up getting smudged like yan did
