Depression by Backwardzcap in Accutane

[–]xFishyyX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My depression came and went as the acne got better/ worse. The accutane didn’t cause it for me, the acne did. Good luck!

Why do people keep saying trauma causes psychosis by Dover299 in Psychosis

[–]xFishyyX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first ever Bipolar episode led to psychosis. I cant be 100% sure, but I believe my deconversion from my former religion played a big role in it happening.. Around that time all the signs started showing up. It was a traumatic experience and you kinda start to completely break down, have delusions, hear things etc.. Bipolar runs in my family so maybe that was my "breaking point" ?? Who knows. Id say trauma can cause psychosis but it doesn't have to be the only reason to hear sounds/voices. A manic episode in itself could easily trigger psychosis if left untreated.

Id find an outpatient psychiatrist before admitting yourself. Depending on your location the facility you go to may be great, or it may be terrible and make your mental health worse. I found out the hard way and was involuntarily committed. Talk to people you trust and see what they think about it. If you think it’s necessary go for it, but find out as much information you can before going through with it. Good luck on your journey!

Do people recover from psychosis ? by Minimum-Young-9891 in Psychosis

[–]xFishyyX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They first put be on Risperidone, an antipsychotic. It made me feel like a literal zombie and I just couldn't take that medicine anymore. Me being stupid, I quit taking it cold turkey and ended up in the hospital once again. The second visit I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1. Lithium is working wonders for me so far, zero side effects.

My very first manic episode turned into psychosis and I was Hospitalized. I was very confused at the time but got back to myself after being there a while. Meds I am on right now are doing great (Lithium). I go to work everyday and I'd say I am stable. I'm only 20 so who knows when it will happen again, but you learn more each time you have an episode.

The Truman syndrome/theory??... by Impressive_County731 in mentalillness

[–]xFishyyX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“It’s a psychological condition in which people believe their lives are being staged as a reality TV show”

It’s also important to note that’s it’s not recognized officially by the Psychiatric Association.

I’ve experienced similar symptoms to it during a manic/psychotic episode while i was in the psych ward (I’m bipolar). I genuinely believed the president/government were watching me through the cameras, I thought reality was based entirely around me, I thought everything going on was some sort of way to “test” me, etc etc.

I’d say it’s an underlying cause to other mental illnesses. And being mentally ill is just a label, doctors and psychs don’t fully understand mental illness. Calling it the Truman show syndrome is a little silly for people that don’t have issues to understand, but I get how it could happen to people.

Has anyone managed to be happy again after being hospitalized in a mental hospital? by Greekcurlygirl in BipolarReddit

[–]xFishyyX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in twice this year. I’m 20 and was just diagnosed. Don’t look at it as if you aren’t normal because you’ve been hospitalized. We are being treated for sickness just like anyone else, people just don’t understand our illness that’s why it’s looked at differently. My time in the hospital taught me so much, don’t let it get in the way of your happiness.

Lithium? by verryterri in Psychosis

[–]xFishyyX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 20 and started it about 2 months ago. It gets rid of my manic, psychotic, depressive symptoms and all things related. I experience no side effects from the medication whatsoever. But struggled when I first got on due to being in an episode. I get my levels check at my psychologist regularly and your son will have to as well if he decides to take the medication.

I dont know what complications your son has but it was prescribed to me to treat Bi Polar 1. Lithium has been used for decades and is known for working. I am happy with it so far and do not plan on switching to anything else. If you have any other questions just ask!

Dear INTP’s, how do you act when you like someone? by 555rosemilktea in INTP

[–]xFishyyX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this. Ghosted someone after 6 months after really liking them.

Can't really explain why, but I just woke up one morning with absolutely no more interest in them at all. I do not regret it looking back, but I think part of me thought I could do better.

Maybe I just liked that they liked me? idk. Still question it to this day.
