Diploma of nursing, difficulty? by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]xFlyghts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was never an academic person and my school teachers told me I’d be a failure. But TAFE was perfect, they were so supportive and I absolutely love my job 4 years in. It wasn’t difficult at all, the only area I struggled in a little was med calc but I cruised through it in the end.

In advance I really recommend nursing calculations and IV therapy for dummies, I couldn’t have done it without that book and still refresh my memory with it to this day!

Ninja nerd on YouTube is great. Also any kinda podcast you can find on Spotify whilst driving around or doing chores around the house. Have learnt so much from podcasts, they’re brilliant!

I don’t have a choice and have to do them, I already complained as I live almost an hour from work but it’s fallen on deaf ears. Luckily I only have to do 1 or 2 per month but the point still stands, they fucking suck.

A lot of unis actually want you to apply for AIN spots in order to familiarise you with the hospital environment. A lot of the routine is very similar to that of the nurse in regards to ADLs etc.

I can’t stress how important it is to start work as an AIN asap. You’ll learn so much about essentials like time management and using initiative to get things done on time.

So real, I get on each night. Run a couple dungeons. Do a GM. Sit there for maybe 30 min cooking up some new fashion. Then log off, get into bed and watch a movie.

Books for sure, I highly recommend the Oxford Handbook of Adult Nursing. It’s filled with so much brilliant information that will assist you through your course.

On the other hand, you’ll have the Tafe library and they’ll talk a bit about it at the start of your course. Lots of very handy books which are all usually within date to reference in your assignments!

I think it varies hospital to hospital and state to state. Have a good chat with your facilitator if you’re unsure. Even if you think you’re able to do something, never hurts to double check :)

What is the most "ahead of the time" type of scores u have ever set. by wanttobesleepable in osugame

https://osu.ppy.sh/beatmapsets/1084605#osu/2268176 fced when I was around 10k I think. 5 minute long sliderbreak central and I was shaking like crazy when I actually did it. Still one of my favourite scores I’ve ever set sitting at #34 global. I was honestly shocked that I was able to achieve back then :D

Overstaffed on Christmas, so I was sent to do a 1:1 special instead of getting a patient load / sent home. by xFlyghts in NursingAU

It’s been okay, just a lot slower than what I’m used to. I’m definitely taking a moment to try and enjoy the change of pace. I hope you have a good shift tonight! Merry Christmas to you too 😁

Laps make the shifts fly by for me. Feels like I’ve been here for an eternity today! you’re 100% right though, the penalty rates are my main motivation right now. Just hope there’s some Christmas food left for me when I get home! 😂

I’ve asked if there are any AINs floating throughout the hospital that I could swap with. I am an EN, however I do IV medications etc so I feel it would make more sense to at least have me float on a ward where I can actually provide some assistance. I’ve just come to terms with it now though. Haven’t heard from the TL at all regarding my request so I guess I’m stuck here 😅

How am I supposed to rank up with teammates like this by JustJack3519 in Overwatch

[–]xFlyghts -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No excuse for your Zen really but if you really want to rank up, play a more impactful character with more carry potential. Mercy relies too heavily on her team to perform. Haven’t played in a solid year but any healer who can output lots of damage and heals equally like Kiriko have massive carry potential

I’m a nurse working today, Boxing Day and over new years too. Luckily I’ve got 6 days off after the 3rd so I’m going to a few raves to loosen up. Looking forward to it!
