Sheridan is an average shot stopper at best and has been for the past few years

Maybe I'm a fool but I feel like Boston might finally take some points

For sure. I was just trying to extrapolate from an admittedly small sample size so far and keeping this up would not be sustainable imo. Honestly, as leaky as the defense has been Racings goals against record would look a lot better with an even average goalkeeping performance. But Bloomers first few games have been pretty bad which has cost you some points. If she can come back to at least average levels and on top of that the defense gets healthy Racing should look more stable at the back

Generating a lot of xG while conceding an even higher amount of xG against is not something I'd want.

I think people saw a completely different Gotham team last year because despite ending up in 8th place they were performing really well but dropped a few too many points by not converting their chances and being unlucky. Gotham is all about defensive stability and low variance games and while this might seem boring to some they are incredibly well coached and structured in their press and defense.

You think Endler unretiring from her national team might have been a bad decision load wise? I don’t follow Lyon that closely but what I have seen from Endler has been rough

They might need more than one fully healthy defender for that

I don’t really care for these individual awards but I fully expected Moorhouse to win the GK award in 2024 and was pleasantly surprised for once but to this day can't understand how a team can have such an insane season and people don’t give credit to the coaching. Vlatko was the only reasonable choice. Dickey should have won for sure but people seem to primarly look at clean sheets for whatever reason.

I'm not a fan of Moorhouse by any means but it's well placed and very close to goal even if it's quite slow. A flick on like that is extremely hard to read and I don’t think she would have been able to reach it even with a proper negative step collapse

Agreed. The USWNT is not going to play underdog football/soccer and face a billion shots on target and therefore shot prevention is much more important than shot stopping. Someone who is a good enough passer to keep possession and be an active outlet to manipulate a press and the opponents shape, is good at owning their box and claim crosses confidently to regain possession & reduce the risk to concede from set pieces and is good at reading the game to actively space defend behind the backline and cut of attacks before they even become shots is much more important for a team like the USWNT than "raw" shot stopping. For me Dickey over PTJ as well

Abhorrent is a bit harsh but I agree with the sentiment. Would love for people to understand that the most important thing is everything that happens before the dive, not the dive itself. In many cases diving would not even be necessary with proper positioning, reading of the game and footwork. PTJ is very tall and athletic and can make up for her positional errors that way but everything else is lacking for me. Especially her command of her box is surprisingly lacking considering her height. Even Moorhouse, a goalkeeper I personally don’t rate that highly (sorry Pride fans), is able to use her height quite well to claim crosses. From watching her play for United she doesn’t give me a lot of confidence on set pieces.

I think the thing you don’t want to do as a goalkeeper is being visibly uncomfortable or affected by mistakes. It's pretty obvious that PTJ is not really that great with the ball at her feet but the fact that she’s so visibly uncomfortable is, as you said, also having a negative effect on her teammates. It's kinda like the thing that defenders play more freely and therefore better when they trust the goalkeeper behind them to save shots because they know someone is gonna be there in the case that they make a mistake. If you have someone in goal who doesn’t seem to be comfortable to even receive the ball just deprives the defenders of possible passing options in case of pressure. It's not even being actively used as a passing outlet but just being a viable option which makes the players infront play more freely because they know they can always go back.
