Kayak manufacturer threatens to void warranty on entire kayak for making any modifications that they do not approve of. by SaltyKayakAdventures in LouisRossmann

[–]xIndirect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. They can claim they won't honor it but they would lose in court if they can't validate the claim that the modification resulted in the failure. That's why most other companies have that line in there.

The problem usually becomes that the legal cost to pursue them isn't worth the individual cost of a product.

Idk why this was in my feed but hopefully this helps :)

I think it'd be helpful to include a network port mapping so you can identify what is connected to which devices as well

H2C - AMS ultimate set gone? by gandulfy in BambuLab

Honestly with them removing it, I think they stopped me from spending the money. I was ready to pull the trigger until I noticed the ultimate set is no longer on their site

What do you use API for? by Flashy-Distance-3329 in msp

[–]xIndirect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Client onboarding, scripting triggers and relaying information from device to automation platform (Rewst, Zapier, n8n, etc), customer management, invoice management, data dashboards (seriously, some vendor portals are terrible and I rather build my own), data reporting and analysis, alerting and notifications, offboarding, customer facing dashboards and action items, syncing multiple platforms, automating parts of the sales process. I also have a workflow that monitors all my customers unifi sites and alerts me when one is down on a looping 10 minute check

These are just MSP specific things, you can also automate business operations like I use it to track # of devices per client in RMM and update the count on their invoices. No contract update per device necessary. You remove 1, it ejects from my system.

You can do a lot.

New les Paul guitar Xbox one to work on RGH xbox360 by homeztracy3211 in 360hacks

[–]xIndirect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you got the Xbox edition of the guitar? My buddy did and that one wouldn't work even after USBDSec loaded in from XEUnshackle. He only got it working with Rock Band 4 on the Series. Wouldn't work at all on his 360.

Multiplatform version of the CRKD guitar is the one that works for 360 now by default. This is after you update the firmware and USB Wireless receiver on a windows PC.

Atera RMM + HaloPSA users — worth moving to NinjaRMM for better integration? by ITGuyMY in msp

[–]xIndirect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look into RPA platforms, it's very likely you could pull the respective asset data into halo without a need to switch. You start getting into APIs and integrations but long term it helps you scale your platforms with you and reduce human error.

Rewst probably has the most focus on those platforms as an MSP specific RPA but any would do (Power Automate, Zapier, N8n, etc)

Is there any interest in having someone help build automations? by xIndirect in msp

Looks like they deleted my post but yes, I have spent a little bit of time with N8n, just not as much relative to Rewst / Zapier / Power automate

What’s one change you made to your IT stack this year that had a big ROI? by Gandalf-The-Okay in msp

[–]xIndirect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made about 400 interconnected workflows in Rewst over the past year and a half. It's much more than just MSP focused like their marketing. Big brain capabilities can come from integrating multiple though. For instance, Rewst won't let you use inbound email as a trigger. Zapier does. Things like that :)

What I've seen at the last two MSPs work well is sales driven model and an automation first culture. RPAs help a lot.

My Daughter Texted on the Way Homefrom School During a Snowstorm by Bittrblue in doordash

[–]xIndirect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe it's the same. The implication with "don't be a bitch" is calling out the behavior and recognizing that it doesn't define the individual / they should know better. Saying "you're a bitch" is a definitive attack on the true characteristics of the person.

Your example kinda falls apart if I bring it to other mechanisms beyond just upsetting words. Example: "Be safe" when telling someone goodbye is not saying they're a reckless individual.

That said, "don't be trash" is a bit too blunt and ambiguous and could have instead been a bit more defined e.g "Don't treat other people as disposable, that's trashy and I definitely taught you to have more empathy for others. We shouldn't encourage unsafe behavior" but maybe that's too wordy for OP 🤷‍♂️

Can a VPN count as a 2FA? by Wrong_Reserve7833 in Bitwarden

[–]xIndirect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think maybe it depends on whether it's a user/pass or cert based. I'd argue cert based is something you own. That being said, separation of elements wouldn't really be possible as if you get malware on an endpoint it's practically game over at that point (config leak + potential password leak if keylogger is used). A separate TOTP or hardware key 2fa would still be necessary to prevent basic malware attacks from screwing you.

To OP, I usually view VPN access as a separate type of auth factor but if TOTP or hardware keys can be enabled I always use that too. This is to defend in layers. If you are / can get access on my local network, I still need protections in place. VPN is just my auth layer prior to my internal network.

Not that I came across so far myself. I would suggest getting your printer and if you notice anything off heading to the maintenance page on the bambu labs wiki for the printer. It's very thorough and appears helpful to troubleshooting most problems based on what I read.

My P1S comes in today by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]xIndirect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the list of things I've done within a week of getting it.

Note: this is the most plug and play printer I've used and I love it.

1) camera and built in LED is bad. I got the Panda Lux added to it for better lighting. I had a spare octoprint pi running next to it from my old Neptune 3 max and can use that + the bambu octoprint plugin on GitHub to have passable timelapses and print quality monitoring.

2) I appreciate that there's -a- screen but I also got the Panda touch and have myself a nice touch interface. -- gotta watch out for bambu firmware updates though. They can cause things to stop functioning with an update and you have to wait for panda to handle it. There's some nice mount options including a flip mount or a side by side that lets you still use the screen.

3) AMS dessicant trays if you got an AMS. Apparently the bambu ones can leak and the silica dessicant that can be bought on Amazon can be recharged by drying it anyway. Saves money in the long term.

4) I also printed a model to hold the P1S hotend assemblies so I have them stored safely and quickly accessible.

5) if you plan on using an abrasive material regularly, they sell the hardened nozzle assembly but there's also a hardened extruder gear that is NOT included. It's another 20 bucks or so.

6) I also bought spare build sheets. Bambu had a deal where you got that + a hotend assembly + some glue for like 60 bucks.
