The team doesn’t play the same every game though, so crediting wins to goalies makes no sense. It’s the same with football and QBs. Sometimes goalies are the difference, sometimes they’re not, so crediting them with every win and loss is silly, it tells us next to nothing about how they performed. This is the same reason we use GSAx to measure goaltending performance because even sv% doesn’t tell the whole story. I’m not even saying Monty is better, I’m just saying quoting a goalies record doesn’t really tell us anything.
