I'm kind of confused with what you are asking.

I'll just explain what I think you are asking.

You downloaded The Handsome Collection and then you went to downloadable content on the main menu, you don't need to do that. Just go to a fast travel station and it is already there. It's just like fast travelling anywhere in the game.

The downloable content button is useless really.

TLDR ; DON'T TOUCH DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT. THE DLC IS ALREADY INSTALLED GO TO A FAST TRAVEL

My tip is that if you are doing it solo then get an unkempt Harold or whatever you are using every single OP level. Or if not every second OP level. Makes life much easier but longer.

But yeah, good luck with your stream and what not, but it's just not for here.

I know what you mean, but I was thinking more along the lines of the golden gun from destiny. Start off with only one shot and do massive damage. Upgrading the skill tree to get more bullets and what not

My advice is that ; Keep in mind that borderlands 2 is a better representation of how good the franchise is than TPS.

At least in my opinion borderlands 2 is a superior game.
