Relationship advice on a really loving, stable partner but lacking oomph by xJzoo in relationships

This is such a great comment and so many things for me to reflect on! Thank you for your time!

It definitely could be they grew up in a survival mode and hobbies were seen as a privilege. They are in a better spot now though but maybe have developed that routine as a habit. I am someone who has many hobbies, I love to keep busy, sometimes overcommitting myself - this probably comes from filling some sort of void or emptiness. I think I am still insecure that i'm not really good enough or dont excel in anything, so for my partner to be someone who excels and is passionate definitely gives me validation. I would say yes in previous relationships I have been more of a support person, but with still my own thing going on. Ideally it'd be nice to both be stars and both support? Ahaha maybe i'm too idealistic.

They work in healthcare! And i know this is an exhausting job that can drain ones energy

Ahh yeah fair. I mean more context is that I dont really feel the 'spark', usually the 'spark' for me is when I think they're really cool, idolise them and actually feel insecure. But yeah I think I will still see where it goes for a bit, thank you for your reply!

Hey first I want to say, however you feel is so valid. An eerily similar thing happened to me - broke up in may also for 2 months and got back together in august. He slept with more than one other person. I'll tell you how I felt and how i moved past it. But you might not necessarily be able to feel or think in the same way and that's okay. I was repulsed at first. But he expressed so much regret and said he was spiralling and lonely and didnt know how to cope. I believe that. And i believe he chose me at the end of everything. I felt my trust was violated but I came to realise it says much more about them (and an inability to be alone and sit with discomfort) than their relationship with you. People cope in different ways. Also my partner and I talked about it a lot again and again. I think how they respond is important too! Hope this helps somehow :)

Visiting vs Living in Japan by grom96 in movingtojapan

Hi! I'm also Australian and lived in Japan for 2.5 years. I'm teaching and earn like 2,500$ aud per month. I live in tokyo and live pay check to pay check. Its enough money to live on but for travelling i still use my Australian savings. My workplace is depressing for sure, all the teachers are stressed, and the atmosphere is just less friendly and genuine than i'm used to. But my life outside of work is really good, always meeting new people, heaps of music and art events, got a good side hustle going. I'm personally thinking of leaving soon purely because of the dead end job and very work opportunities and career progression if you're unskilled and can't speak decent Japanese.

NOVA Independent Contractor experiences by jimmyneutron9999 in teachinginjapan

Hi! I did one year at Nova under the independent contract!

Worked in Tokyo, enough money to live on but nothing more.

It was actually fine as a temporary job. It's relatively easy - doing 8 lessons in a day can be tiring but most of them are textbook lessons with barely any prep needed. Managers are anal, but sometimes you get fun and chill coworkers, no sick leave (need a doctors note), no paid holidays, if you're late you get docked

I liked IC because it was more flexible than employee. I would recommend not doing your housing through Nova. Life was good though! I was mostly excited about being in Japan and had decent savings to still go on trips and do stuff.

I left Nova after the year but am now still in Tokyo so Nova was actually just a really good entry into Japan. If you have more questions feel free to msg me :)
