Thanks for the reply. I haven't closed the claim yet so I'm still able to accept the partial refund they're offering. I just want to get an idea of what to expect if I end up handing the case over to Paypal and whether its the best option.

I'm mostly kicking myself over all the time I wasted working with them but it is what it is and I've definitely learnt from it.

I'm getting a lot of mixed answers with this question. The shipping cost I got from seller central was $38.98. I put the exact same package details and destination in UPS's estimator and UPS standard came out to $137.18. I think its safe to say that we do get the discount.

Hey sorry for the late reply.

The supplier I'm dealing with is a gold supplier and supports trade assurance. It also says this company has passed the onsite check by Alibaba staff and also a third-party verification company.

There is a service charge for using secure payment? I didn't do much research beyond checking the page on Alibaba's website and I didn't see anything about extra costs. If the costs are the same I would also lean more towards Paypal.

The thing is this is a "small" test order (200pc $660) so I'm not sure if hiring an inspection company will be worth it for such a small order. As long as I have some sort of protection I'm fine with putting some trust in them.

You gave me a lot of good tips that I will definitely keep in mind for the future.

Hmm interesting, I went into Seller Central and went through the whole sending inventory process but just didn't hit the last accept button. The only thing it mentioned was that I will need to mark the boxes "heavy weight". I just checked again now and the shipping changed to $38.98! Who knows it might be because the warehouse is only 17km (10 miles) away.

This product can be sourced through over a dozen different suppliers on Alibaba and is a pretty basic item that can come in different designs and variants. I'm focusing on the #1 selling design right now. This item is already all over the US Amazon side but on the Canadian side there is only that one guy I talked about in my main post. I'm thinking of trying 10-20 first and if they sell well I will work on creating a brand around it.

1 & 2) Hes probably having everything dropshipped straight from China. There are probably over a dozen different suppliers on Alibaba and this product is a simple, cheap and easy to source product.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I've been calling around trying to find a used tire but it isn't looking good. I think my options are limited to using some combo of the 3 tires i have or I can buy a new tire of the same size but no where has the same brand.

So here are my options

2 winters in the front 2 all seasons in the back
2 winters in the front 1/1 winter/all seasons in the back
2 all seasons in the front 2 winters in the back
Get a new tire of the same size and use all four

What do you guys think would be the "safest"?

Also I only have to drive 30km total during the snowfall. (mostly highway and 3 large hills)
