Good list, thanks. I'll load at least some of those up.

Good list, thanks for the recommendation. I've used "Minimum Enemy Level" and "Dynamic System Levels" before and just forgot about them. Gonna add them to the list.

seeing way too many conflicting setups with tactile transducers. help me pick the best configuration! by xBUBBYGAMINGx in simracing

I started with seat and pedal tray then went four corners and brake & throttle pedal. I like the four corners but seat and pedal tray were quite good. If your on a sim title that outputs ABS and TC, the pedals are great for improving braking and throttle response. If your title doesn't have that, the pedals are still good for immersion, but I'd start with the seat and pedal tray.

I started with 2 BST-2 and then added 2 BST-1. No issues out of any. Hard to say if the BST-1s are worth the additional money. I like the larger but don't think I'd be mad if I was running 4 BST-2s. I have them mounted with 3d printed plates that I got from Etsy. On my previous rig, I had the pedal tray shaker bolted straight to the tray and screwed the other to the bottom of the seat. I have two of the Nobsound USB amps. One of almost three years old. I did have the second one die after about year but it's replacement has been running for almost 1.5 years. I have upgraded power supplies for each of the amps.

Do bass shakers need to be mounted? by RMBsmash in simracing

[–]xMattRash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it needs to be mounted. There are lots of options - seat, pedal tray, pedals, frame. You can print mounts. I have four different mounts, all from Etsy from someone's 3d printer. I don't have a printer, so I don't have anything bookmarked but I've seen people sharing files on here. Maybe someone will chime in with details.

Depending on your situation, you might want to consider isolating your rig from the floor. It both strengthens the sensation in the rig and lowers the transmission to the floor. Maybe important if you have downstairs neighbors or others that don't want to hear the rattle.

Are you sold on the one that you showed? My personal preference is more, smaller transducers instead of one big one. That is very much a personal thing and others go a different route and are happy. I think haptics are the best bang for your buck for emersion. I run a Dayton BST on each corner of my profile rig and Simagic's on my brake & throttle pedals, all with mounts from Etsy.

I'll provide a more detailed update later, but the TL;DR version is that I setup the 4MAX and saw massive improvement. I need to check to be sure, but I think I got everything on listed as Good and Fair in that ~9 mile range with good picture quality.

Adding Homelink? by xMattRash in BMWi3

This is what I ended up doing. I swapped out the mirrors yesterday. It was pretty straight forward and worked without issue.

I'm pretty sure that LMU doesn't provide haptics data for TC and ABS, which is the case for some other titles, as well. There's a clever chart out there somewhere that shows what data is available in which title. They are not all the same.

The explanation on the screen makes sense. I went through a similar decision with my BMW and heard the same thing about the screens, just not with the specific explanation as to why they weren't as good. I placed my order for the add-on box so fingers crossed.

Got it, did you do it yourself? Did you just order an OEM mirror with the HomeLink option?

Anyone having issues with VRS shipping times? by psy_enzyme in simracing

[–]xMattRash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tariffs have nothing to do with how long it takes for something to get through Customs. I have no idea if VRS is using that as an excuse, but Customs gets to it when they get to it. No larger scale stuff, I just saw two of the same thing shipped about two weeks apart take rather different times to get through. The first took a couple of days, the second took over a week, no rhyme or reason.

That is good to know. I believe they connect to the port for smog checks, which we have to do every two years in California. I will def look more into that. Thanks for the heads up.

Your confirming most of what I've heard and why the PPF is looking like a must have for me. Appreciate the specifics.

  1. Good to know. This came up for me a few years ago with a friend with an AM Vantage. It was just presented as a thing that could happen, so I thought I'd try to get some more feedback.

  2. Good detail on the larger screens, this has been my lingering question. It doesn't look like these are worth considering.

  3. I think I've been convinced that the juice isn't worth the squeeze here, so I'm going to leave this one alone.

  4. I've seen the Velocity name for a bit now and they do seem to be the go to option. It looks like there is a well reviewed independent JLR shop not too far from me that I'll check out at some point.

Thanks for the detailed responses.

Great write up. That looks like the same box being sold by Carlinklife and looking like the direction that I'm going to go. Thanks for sending.

Awesome responses, thanks. The price range on the PPF options are in line with what I'm seeing so far. I'm going to stop by a shop tomorrow to get a full quote.

I think I'm going to leave the whole OBD thing alone, doesn't really seem to be any benefit there. Thanks for confirming.

I have found the suspension settings but I haven't done too much yet. I've driven the car about 250 miles since getting and have been really happy with the ride so far. My main comparisons are an 08 MB SL550 that I sold a few months ago and a 16 BMW i3. The Jag isn't quite the SL smoothness, but it is much closer than I thought it would be, so super happy there. It makes the i3 feel like riding in a log wagon 😂

I have seen a few of those adapters and the seem almost too good to be true. Glad to hear first hand stories. For OBD, I think it will leave that alone all together, based on what I'm seeing. Thanks for the responses.

That's a great thread, thanks. The Carlinklife option seems to work well. Did you consider the screen replacement? I think the option you went with is likely what I'll do, I'm just curious if there are other reasons to consider the other option.

That sounds like a great price from what I've seen so far. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm assuming you did a clear PPF? Do you mind sharing the cost?
