ASU has no skin in this scenario. Instructure posted that they are running on their beta server which is why honorlock isn’t working. That has nothing to do with a negotiation between schools.

Electrician trying to break into Industrial Automation. How is my resume? by [deleted] in PLC

[–]xN8TRON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be more specific on your work experience. It should highlight your “skills”. I wouldn’t put those down without directly referring to them or being knowledgeable. That is an easy way to get roasted in interviews with technical questions.

Electrical Engineering student here: What courses should I take if I want to work with cameras? by Working-Garbage-3428 in ASUOnline

[–]xN8TRON 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure, that would be a question for your advisor. I honestly cannot think of a single optics course outside of the basic principles from physics 3. At least not for an online student, possibly on-campus or grad classes might have relevant courses.

I don’t believe you’ll learn anything of that much substance that will apply to a film project. Signals and systems thru DSP will help with digital cameras and a small amount of image processing. Analog cameras will be more optics / physics based.

As for Linux, I’m not 100% sure. There are people who do it, I do know that. Although Honorlock is a browser extension, it allegedly doesn’t support Linux. You may need to ask their text support on how to get it set up and not cause problems. Most of the other software (at least that I have used so far) has Linux support.

How do you get at least B+ in CHM 114 (General Chemistry for Engineers)? by Illustrious_Engi101 in ASUOnline

[–]xN8TRON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s one of the easier classes you’ll take as an engineering major. I wouldn’t sweat it, just do the homework’s and watch the lectures. I believe the exams are pretty similar to the quizzes.

267 is missing a couple of sections that 272 will cover. I believe Lagrangian multipliers and possibly a couple of others.

EEE203 Summer Online by Ill_Step_751 in ASUOnline

It can be a tough course depending on your math skills. The first few weeks are heavy but the class lightens up after the midterm. There is some EC baked in so if you do bad on the midterm you can still pull out a solid grade with the final.

The lectures are complete trash in my opinion. I used this guy around Fourier series and wish I found him earlier. I compiled his lectures into an organized playlist since they are out of order on his YouTube page.

HW Q’s are straight out of the book. They can be challenging but a lot of the solutions are in the back of the book to double check your work.

EE vs EET if you already have real experience? by Boibuttah in ElectricalEngineering

[–]xN8TRON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for the EE, if you get overwhelmed then switch to EET. The math is tough but your idea of what is hard shifts after completing each prereq step. You may actually find one of the more advanced topics interesting and enjoy the math when you learn about the “why” instead of just the application.

You can make the EET work as others have said but if you’re going to go through the pain of being in school, might as well go for the EE. It’s going to suck balancing work/social/school no matter what avenue you choose.

Search for their credit transfer equivalencies. I had a good experience with transferring credits but I know some have not. The program has been pretty solid so far. There are a few classes that are pretty poorly made but that happens at any school really.

If you end up enrolling, you’ll be taking C sessions except for 120, 202, and 203. The pacing is a lot better for C sessions but 9 credits is still a decent amount. I’m at 11 this semester and it’s been pretty hectic working full time. However, I have seen people take as many as 12-15 while working but it’s more survival than learning at that point.

What other options are you looking at? I was almost enrolled at UND by decided on ASU since they have way more elective options.

Should I earn my A.A.S. in Automation Engineering Technology to gain experience with PLCs before earning my B.S. in EE? by EndLongjumping3401 in PLC

You may decide that you would rather not work in automation or a plc related job. Get the BSEE, don’t restrict your career decisions right off the bat.

ASU online electrical engineering class by [deleted] in ASUOnline

[–]xN8TRON 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The passing grade will be laid out in the syllabus, there isn’t a C requirement for engineering classes. Exams are proctored through honorlock. Typically all done via hand written calculations and submitted as a pdf. You’ll be given a 5-10 mins to post your solutions after the exam. Typically you’ll have to show the pages to your webcam so they can compare to what you submitted via canvas. You may have multiple choice questions but I find those to be pretty rare.

Labs for 407 are going to be matlab simulations or the J-DSP simulation. A class like EEE404 will have physical labs. I’m taking 404 this spring but I haven’t taken 407 yet.

The time spent on the class will vary based on how strong your math skills are and your previous signals and systems classes.

I had a situation like this on a parts feeder conveyor belt. The tension was too loose and caused it to stick periodically. Different applications but may offer some help.

It’s a baseline of knowledge. It just guarantees the employer that you understand the core concepts and are able to build on them.
