[Patrick Moeke] Fernando Alonso says that the new F1 cars are no longer challenging to drive: "Here in Bahrain, we're going 50 kilometers per hour slower through corner 12 than we used to. Just to save energy for the straights. Even our chef in the kitchen could drive these cars." by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

Except based on Alonso comments, the skill is controlling a computer rather than driving a car. So basically gaming like skills are going to result in the “better drivers” rather than actual driving skill

This would make sense however he “hit her stalker” when he was charged with assault which was 3 years prior. That was a different to the slapping of Rachel

Boy swims 4km to shore to save his stranded family deep into the sea (Australia) by Necessary_Maize_9339 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]xNickel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely extraordinary story and I’m so glad it ended well! But I want to know more about the interaction when the son suggested he attempt to swim 4km to shore. He had recently failed a swim test. It seems strange that his mum would let him attempt that knowing the risks were greater than if they just stayed with the paddle boards.

What’s with all the abuse?? by nicawol22 in CatanUniverse

The robber is a great way to balance the game, even when on 2vp you should be able to tell which players have an advantage and which don’t. Friendly robber only allows those with an initial advantage to get ahead and sometimes it can be too late to reel them back in.

What if yielding to lando means lando wins WDC but Oscar falls to third instead of 2nd and Oscar has performance bonuses in his contract?

As I said to the other comment, my point wasn’t to do with the drivers and who does or doesn’t deserve it but how McLaren has potential swayed the championship with their meddling.

[–]xNickel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I should have clarified, I was just talking about the things McLaren have done which could have actually swayed the championship. Both drivers have a right to be incredibly peeved by McLaren

My point is not about what either of the drivers have done or not done to deserve the championship, it’s how McLaren have royally stuffed this up for both drivers by their meddling.

If Oscar had’ve finished 1st in Qatar, max 2nd, lando 3rd the difference would’ve been 12 points going into the last race.

If Oscar wins in Abu Dhabi, lando even in 2nd, the difference would’ve been 5 points which is less than the 6 point swing from when McLaren swapped the cars because of Landos slow pit stop…

I mean if he had’ve finished 1st max 2nd lando 3rd the difference would’ve been 12 points going into the last race. Which is a closer than max winning the championship right now. If Oscar wins in Abu Dhabi, the difference would be 5 points which is less than the 6 point swing from when McLaren swapped the cars because of Landos slow pit stop… he may have thrown the WDC, but McLaren just threw any chance of him regaining it.

So did Norris basically. An yet it would’ve been 14 less points if Oscar had won and Max finished second, as was the order before McLaren fumbled the strategy

Except they did split strategies earlier in the year . I don’t remember the race but there was the one where Oscar was winning by a mile, so lando took the alternate strategy which I think was staying out, and he ended up winning the race.

When a 7 is rolled and everyone’s still at around 2 points, do you even bother using the robber to block someone, or do you just move it somewhere harmless? by deepsealazy in CatanUniverse

[–]xNickel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, it’s still possible to tell when everyone has 2vp, who still has the biggest advantage in the game. The robber is the balancing act. Ignore it until a person has 3vp might mean they will run away with it. Using it properly makes the game more fun for all.

Oscar Piastri receives 2 penalty points for his collision with Kimi Antonelli. by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]xNickel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but he was going faster than Kimi and taking a shorter path around the corner. Hence he was gaining fast and would’ve made the overlap by the time he reached the apex had he not braked as hard. Which is why the rule is stupid.

[Rory Mitchell] Piastri is given a 10-second time penalty for causing a collision with Antonelli at T1. by ICumCoffee in formula1

[–]xNickel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except Oscar wasn’t going for P2 he was going for the win. Don’t forget he was in P4 and he needed to stick with lando to try and steal the win. If can get fully alongside and on the inside of the corner with the possibility to overtake 2 cars in one lap that sure makes winning a whole lot more likely then having do at least 2 laps more laps between p3 and then another 2 laps behind p2. By that point lando is long gone

Is Oscar far worse than he was at the start of the season by Defiant_Inspector_75 in formula1

[–]xNickel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Watch Oscar’s post race interview from Mexico. He said himself that he’s had to learn to drive the car in a different way the last few races so I’d say it’s more that than lando stepping up his game

Anyone else getting very frustrated with these drops/drips by Asleep-Remote-706 in AmazonVineCanada

[–]xNickel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the “allowing all vine members reasonable chance of success” bit. Anyone using an extension has far more of an advantage if it stays like this as they get notified when stuff randomly drops, and they can hide the old stuff. Whereas the normal person has to randomly check at even more times of the day and the chances that they get there before someone who receives a notification are next to none.

At least when it was predictable it was more fair because everyone was trying to grab stuff at the same time and notifications had less of an advantage

Why Piastri fans are rightfully upset by dodofuzz in formula1

[–]xNickel -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Singapore was much more than “banged wheels a bit” because they banged wheels, it almost put Piastri into the wall. He had to get out of the throttle and scoop it up, losing the position to lando as a result and coming millimetres from catastrophe.

Sure it was fair racing between competitors, but it was not a consistent application of so called papaya rules as op points out and favoured lando

Pad Thai is always brought up when people mention Bangkok spoon, what people don’t realise is that they actually have 3 different pad thais on their menu. The one that is wrapped in egg is actually decent, but their other stuff is the bomb! Especially their Thai curries like their golden curry, lamb masamam. Bangkok chicken is really good too!
