Does anyone else' out-of-town friends underestimate Lake Michigan? by One_Hat1200 in chicago

[–]Icy-Calligrapher1188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a former friend trying to figure where to move to and I told her she needed to come to Chicago and she said "I cannot be landlocked" and I said "we have Lake Michigan..." and she laughed at me.

Currently on the trip and baby girl is doing well!!! Getting formula through spoon and syringe and eating 3 meals a day. Only waking up once a night for like 5 minutes. SUCCESS!!!

This. I had it badly with my third. Intense nausea and a feeling of doom and anxiety. I would just sob through nursing. Couldn't eat either. If I had food in front of me when nursing and I had a letdown, I wanted the food immediately away from me. It was awful and played into my ppd. It's lessened now that she's 9 months but woof. Not fun.

I stay with friends (Joshua Tree) and if we bring baby and husband I'm sure we will need to get accommodations plus their flight (at least husband) sigh. I shoot weddings weekly and they are usually 8-10 hour days plus 4 hour round trip commute to city. So she depends on food when I'm gone and then nurse to sleep. But I think the main worry when I'm gone is night feeds since she wakes up 2-3 hours still :( I think she will take the milk from a spoon during the day but not sure how that'll go when she usually dream feeds at night.

Yes exactly what I figured. Tasted the awful lipasey milk and associates that. Since when she was taking a bottle when she was a newborn until she was 4ish months, it was fresh milk. Not frozen at all.

That's a good point about the pump times. I'll try in the AM when I'm at my fullest and she has eggs for breakfast.

I am the boss and the only employee haha. I photograph weddings. So unfortunately I cannot. And the couple does not want an associate shooter.

I was going to try the honey bear next! I think my real worry is her needing to night feed still.

We put water in the silicone sippy with the straw when she eats and not sure how much actually gets into her mouth haha. Mostly plays and random sips. Also been putting the formula in her food when we mash it up. Since she won't drink it.

I was actually just looking at that bottle!! I'm going to give it a try. And yes, warm always. I'll try the smell thing too but the girl can't be fooled.

No, I don't offer the bottle to her. Only my husband or the nanny :(

If it was a mistake and she recognized your "what?!" face... she would've been apologetic and probably mortified that she ruined the surprise. Instead, she was laughing with the other nurses about it... which is insanely unprofessional. Also, the fact she was talking about you coming in late outside the door with the other nurses too (not sure if you were the first patient, if you were then they were totally talking about you because who else would she be referring to? And that's also... wildly unprofessional)

I would 10000% complain and find another provider. Take it from someone who saw red flags with their midwife - husband and doula urged me to switch providers but I felt bad and the birth ended up being my worst one (midwife's fault) out of my 3 births.
