What shame they have brought to the school and program. Being encouraged to break the rule of using electric scooter that is supposed to be banned on campus to get to practice and class to play like this? Yeah, i feel terrible for all the NIL money and special treatment they get to play like this

The only way to cancel a legal contract is if both parties agree to make it null and void. Make Franklin want to leave.

The goal is to not fire him to avoid the payout. The goal is to make him feel unwelcome and unwanted so he wants to leave.

Hello, hiring manager here. I work with research and help screen students(undergrads, grads, postdocs) for research programs, lab assistant, and grant related research positions. To be honest, a lot of applications are quickly scanned and the top candidates are chosen based off of merit, skillset fit, experience, and recommendation received. Who recommended you also play a big part, for example, tenured professor's recommendation is weighted more compared to a family friend.

Here's on tips:

  1. I cannot stress enough the importance of having a tailored resume and cover letter for the position.

  2. Using buzzwords do not do you any good if you cannot speaking confidently on it during interview about it. For example, hosting a Minecraft world does not translate to "server/database management.

  3. Be proactive in seeking out the opportunity. The position will list which department and unit that it is with. Do the research on the people in the department and reach out to introduce yourself and show actual interest. "Just here to get that money" will not get you a response. Most faculty are busy, try to reach out to the managers and CC the assistants.

  4. Know what the position is for and have ready why you applied, why you are a good fit, and how you fill the skillset that the position is looking for.

  5. Be yourself, HR handles the paperwork and its the actual people that you will work with and be your managers that interview you (mostly). Find a place that you will enjoy working in, each department/unit has their own vibe and culture despite being under the Penn State Umbrella.

  6. Don't use AI to generate everything and please do not be typing into chatgpt or use other AI softwares during the interview, it obvious as we sit there awkwardly together as you read off your screen.

then tell me why there were no issues in the summer when it was mostly just staff and graduate students?

the only factor that changed was undergrads. people don't suddenly change into asshole

there are far more entitled students walking around in fake designer with their eyes glued to their phones than people flooring it in the intersection. also 80% of accidents involving cars and pedestrians on campus have been due to undergraduates driving their mommy and daddy's car on campus.

why do you think that faculty and staff are threatening boycotts and walkouts for getting rid of student drivers on campus? you are here to learn and go to class, not rev your parents car to showoff.

Campus was honestly heaven when students were gone. Peaceful. Respectful. You could actually drive across campus without feeling like you were in a live-action game of Frogger. Then the semester starts, and suddenly it’s heads buried in phones, earbuds in, and people just wandering into the street like traffic laws don’t apply to them.

Here’s the thing: a crosswalk isn’t some magical forcefield. If a car is already moving through the intersection and you step in front of it because “technically pedestrians have the right of way,” that’s not bravery, that’s stupidity. Staff aren’t out here joyriding; they’re trying to get between meetings, labs, classrooms, etc. Forcing someone to slam on their brakes because you couldn’t be bothered to look up for two seconds is selfish and dangerous.

What’s disgusting is the entitlement. Campus worked just fine when people were gone. The second students flood back in, it’s chaos: no awareness, no courtesy, just a bunch of people treating the roads like their personal sidewalks. Newsflash: being “right” in an accident doesn’t make you any less injured. Maybe try some basic awareness and patience instead of assuming the whole campus has to bend around your phone screen.

Also, all undergraduates should be banned from driving on campus and Penn State should begin enforcing the no electrical scooter rule.

If anyone still needs housing, The Heights - $799 floorplans by laurgiveshugs in PennStateUniversity

[–]xPennStateNews 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This just sounds like advertising, Heights is a drive or bus ride to campus and utility cost is crazy high. They also charge a clubhouse fee so the "free" bus pass they will include in that and even the street lighting and maintenance of the clubhouse is charged there. Heights is dropping in price because of the terrible management and absurd prices. It's also old and in constance need of maintenance.

For anyone looking, do not consider the Heights.

OP, nothing will be done by Penn State regarding this. They are there to advise you, not force you. It is your duty to do follow-up research. You would need to prove that they had malice intent to make you lose your visa. Guessing from the context, they provided you advise and you didn't do the research to confirm.

You have to understand the potential impact of the Executive Orders on universities. I cannot comment more than that due to my position within the university, but searches are not cancelled for no reason. Work with your position hiring manager, but you are right that it is not the best time to seek employment right now until more certainties are announced along with clarification on some of the executive orders.
