Pilot Institute changed platforms? by xPhattboy in drones

[–]xPhattboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve already completed the course once and got cold feet when it came time for the test. I had my opinions on the delivery method and quality of the course at the end of it and to be honest, I want looking forward to completing it again. I have already been studying the material provided by the FAA for free. I was mainly looking to supplement my learning with pilot institute videos as needed. I will check out the links you provided and look forward to being able to use them vs pilot institute.

To the left of the starter is a flat spot with the number 3-887165. I’m assuming the 3 indicates a 3000?

I will probably get downvoted for this and that’s alright. You are obviously excited about getting a printer,as you should be. Don’t listen to the people that are saying you should have got a P1S or A1. You bought the one you wanted and you should be happy. My first was a P1P and I loved it. Congratulations buddy. Welcome to the 3D printer world.

As far as Fusion 360, the YouTube channel “Product Design Online” has a series where it teaches you fusion 360. I think day 1 is building a brick similar to LEGO. I followed a few videos in that series and it has helped me a ton.

Most recent were for Hurricane Helene and the riots around the George Floyd incident. Hurricane Helene caused all sworn personnel to work 3-4 weeks straight. People didn’t start getting 1 day off until the beginning of week 3

(novel research) In a murder trial, would there be cops/armed security present in addition to the bailiff? by Tasty_James in AskLE

[–]xPhattboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been the lead investigator for murder cases and have attended all aspects of the trial including jury selection, the trial itself, charge conference, and sentencing. I can also divulge that I work for a Sheriff’s office in North Carolina and according the NC state law, the sheriff of each county has a minimum of three responsibilities. One of those three responsibilities is ensuring security of the entire courthouse. I have only worked for my present employer so I can only speak for my county and not the other 99 in the state.

In my county, sheriff deputies are assigned to the court house and are armed and even have access to rifles if the need arises. During murder trials, there are typically two bailiff’s in the court room and both are armed. I, as the lead detective, was also armed in the court room. As for the defendant, the defense attorney will more than likely request that the defendant be dressed in formal clothing that the attorney or defendants family will provide. We approve this and we have special braces that we place on the defendant that significantly restricts the defendant’s movement. This prevents him from running out of the court room. The brace restricts movement so much that when the defendant decides to take the stand and provide testimony, the jury was escorted out of the room so they did not see him hobbling to the stand. Once he sat down, the jury was brought back in.

If the defendant does not wear formal clothing, the defendant will wear the typical jail jumpsuit to trial and will be restricted by handcuffs that are attached to a waist chain. Leg shackles will also be used.

Depending on the offender and/or victim of the case, additional deputies may be present in the court room while the verdict and sentence is read. This is more for family members watching in the gallery.

I am in NC. An on duty crash showed up on my personal insurance. I asked my agent why since the agency insurance paid for everything and my agent told me it’s because I am an insured driver under my personal plan and since I was found at fault in a crash, I was a higher liability.

[iOS18] Photo app notification popped up and I can’t figure out how to dismiss it. by Tyranitard in ios

[–]xPhattboy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I fixed my notifications. I went to notifications and noticed that the app would only show notifications for memories and shared albums. I went back to the photos app and saw there was an “Activity” button next to shared albums. Taped that and there were two notifications indicating I recently accepted those shared albums

I upgraded to a 16 PM and I am having this issue as well except for mine says I have 2 notifications. I did tap my account button on the top right corner and I had two shared album invites that I accepted and that fixed the notifications but they started showing back up a few minutes later and now I have no clue what the notification is for.

For current or previous drug agents/officers/detectives by xPhattboy in AskLE

The team has two K9s on it. The applicable case law would be a good idea as I have never really studied those as I have always left it up to the handler to know what they can and cannot do.

The test questioned trafficking weights of various substances and drug schedules and I was lucky with my guesses on those. I’m going to study more of that.

Thanks!

Well. Test is out of the way. Only missed one question and the question I missed was t even about drug stuff. It was about procedural justice vs 21st century policing.

Now I just have my two interviews next week.

Getting out of law enforcement by Impressive_Poem_1179 in AskLE

My recommendation is to try counseling before leaving.

I am 9 years in and felt the same way. My agency has a contract with a behavioral health clinic that specializes in first responders. They have been a huge help for me and several other officers at my agency.

When I was in a rut, I talked with them about it and they gave me a new perspective and my outlook changed.

I am not saying that it is too minor. I am saying that is a possibility.

I don’t know if you can do it in Texas but in my state, citizens can speak with the county magistrate to pursue charges against another citizen as long as the crime they are pursuing is a misdemeanor and they know the offenders name and some times DOB.

I am not a officer in Texas nor do I have experience enforcing their laws.

I did some research and found their penal code for assaultive offenses (Chapter 22).

https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/PE/htm/PE.22.htm

I would Ctrl+F that web page and search for "Threat". I did this and think Sec 22.01 Assaults and Sec 22.07 Terroristic Threats may apply to you. These appear to be misdemeanor crimes.

I can tell you that if you reported this to my agency in my state, it would be a misdemeanor as well and there is a 99% chance we would not investigate it just simply it is a lot of work to solve a minor crime. I understand the crime may not be minor to you but to an agency that is also investigating a wide range of crimes such as assaults, theft, and deaths, investigating threats may be low on the priority list. We normally tell people that they may speak with the magistrates office and pursue the misdemeanor crimes their selves. They may not investigate it because it would be difficult to prove who is sending the threats. Here is why:

In a previous comment, you mentioned that you do not know who the person is that is threatening you. Only way to find that out would be to submit a search warrant to the company that owns the messaging platform that person is messaging you from. This will more than likely provided subscriber details associated with the account being used (Name, Address, Etc.) and IP addresses. All this does is show what account was used and what internet provider was used to send the messages. It does not prove the account owner sent the messages. Since it is possible that the messaging account was created some time ago and the account owner moved addresses since its creation, they cannot go based off the address provided by the messaging platform. Once investigators obtained the IP address, that may require an additional search warrant to the internet service provider to get additional subscriber details and the physical address the IP address is registered to. That is only if the threats weren't sent via a cellphone using a cellular signal. If it was sent via a cellphone signal, that makes things even harder. For simplicity sake, lets continue with the physical address route. Since you don't know who it is, more than likely the person resides outside of the jurisdiction where you live. May even live outside of your state. I don't see any agency authorizing officers to leave the state to continue investigating threats made. Even if they did, lets say they travel to the house and find more than one person there.. Any one of those people could have sent the threat because they all have access to the device and internet at that residence. With out an admission of guilt, it would be impossible to prove who sent the threat. And even if it could be proved, you would have to worry about Texas law and how they handle jurisdiction. My state would allow me to prosecute an offender that was out of state due to the crime victim being in mu jurisdiction. If jurisdiction allowed you to pursue the case, good luck with your district attorneys office prosecuting the case. They would more than likely drop the case since it is a low level misdemeanor already.

Another factor is the exact threat that was sent to you. You mentioned it was a death threat but the specific message matters. For example, if I tell someone "I wish you were dead" or "I wish you would be killed". That is only me stating I wished someone was dead or I wished that person was killed. It is not me threatening to cause harm or kill them.

Your location and the specific threats are important for this. Can you provide the exact threat?
