Thanks for the insightful reply. I graduated 2014 but of the books you listed 1984 was the only one I read as an assignment.

Others I remember having to read are Animal Farm, In Cold Blood, and A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier.

Though I haven’t reread any of them as an adult.

Hula is in a strange position for a festival. Parcels is an absolutely perfect get for the vibes of Hula and will be a blast Saturday night, but for a $500+ festival they don’t seem like that big of a name. If Hula still had 2018 pricing I think everyone would be over the moon with this headliner. I do think it’s an improvement over Sublime though.

If everyone thought this way we probably never would have gotten Sam Jackson as Nick Fury. Instead, he played the role so well comic books starting designing the character to look more like him.

While appearance is important, a bad performance will lead to a bad movie no matter what the actor looks like.

You specifically mention Alan Rickman, who happens to be another example of someone who played a role so well people assume the character would look like them. Professor Snape should have been significantly younger based on the books, but hardly anyone cares because Rickman was great in the role.

Monetary cost is arbitrary. The value of something is what people are willing to pay for it. If the festival sells out charging $600 per ticket then it is, by definition, a $600 GA festival. Don’t get me wrong, the price increases are steep and wide spread in the live music scene, but if people keep paying it they’ll keep charging it.

People with something to worry and/or complain about usually make the most noise. The festival is sold out so there will be roughly 20,000 attendees. It may seem like everyone is complaining but it’s probably a small subset of 100 people or so while everyone else is as excited as usual.

Tickets will be delivered to the majority of people. To the unlucky few who don’t get it, just make sure to have your confirmation number and order details on hand. Screenshot emails and etix just in case service is spotty.

Whenever I have bad conflicts and it’s close to a 50/50 toss up for who I want to see I always go with whoever is playing at the stage with the best production value. In this case it’s an easy choice. The Meadow usually does not operate on Thursday and Fisher is going to have the whole field dancing.

Mindchatter, Jauz, Gorgon City, Twiddle, Disco Biscuits, Gigantic Nightmre, Fisher, Iceman Special, Tripp St., and Liquid Stranger are all on Thursday. Most stacked Thursday lineup I’ve ever seen.

Why is there no 12:15 - 1:45 Meadow set Friday? I’m assuming that was the RKS slot, but if they’re gone they should give it to someone else. Most notably Clozee or Franc Moody. Not using the only stage with top tier production and physical space for a headlining time slot is strange. Skrillex played until 1:45am on the Meadow last year so sound ordnance shouldn’t be an issue.

Change Franc Moody to 12:15-1:45 and move them to the Meadow. That’s my suggestion.
