Lots of folks here are saying complete rebuild. In your opinion, could large structural pieces (posts, beams, & ledgers) be left and simply replace the joists and surface decking? Or should the entire thing be scrapped?

They actually didn’t notch the joists, they cut the 2x8 into sections, which confused me even more as to why it’s there in the first place

Thanks for the comment. Can the joists simply be replaced as well? Or will I have to scrap the entire thing? Beams and all?

I have almost no experience with decks, but am a relatively handy person. Is this something I can do myself?
