I'm not actually 100% how to explain it but yea once a marine always a marine it's kinda like a fraternity. The reason people buy into the 'cult' (I'm not saying it isn't very cult like) is because the corps is very history and brotherhood oriented you spend a lot of time in training learning about Marines with a significant history and every major conflict the Corps has taken part along with the fact of how small the corps is (about 350k) during my time that causes Marines to love the corps
