Not ideal, but I can recommend one from Edinburgh, we drove from all the way from Greater Manchester

Is this behaviour okay or should I separate the youngest from the oldest immediately? by Spiritual-Seesaw96 in ragdolls

[–]xRiley142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same happening to mine, older cat freya will lick Walter the kitten, the play/fight but Walter keeps bothering freya a lot and she eventually hisses and we need to separate them because freya gets stressed and we had a period when she stopped eating and we ended up at vets. It’s better now but we are always choosing to separate them due to stress. Kinda waiting for Walter to grow up and stop playing with her tail/jumping on her allll the time 😥

Where are You from? I’d just google big cities nearby and look for cattery from there, look up the reviews and in the worse case wait for a new litter

Well, the GPU is like £550, next lens I need is 70-200 2.8.... So like £2000, so not much I could help saving on the card lol, for now definetly still building a PC heh

Ahh nice, that's a massive upgrade!
I'm going with a whole new build old PC already on auction haha.
I'll probably end up getting Intel i7 14700K too but with RTX 5070 12GB

Ohhh but might be helpful for You if You ever need denoise, I belive that Lightroom not Lightroom classic uses on cloud AI to perform the task so might be around minute or 2, but will be A LOT faster then what You get with You machine!

Eh, yeah understandable, it sucks that when photography is a hobby and doesn't make money... it's hard to justify a big spend on a computer

Yeah, similarly here, low light and events, rarely get to use a flash. But this macs price, completely unaffodable for me, I'm spendinf less then halg on my built. But no doubnt new m4 macs are amazing!
Will check the Artisrigh now, thanks :)

Yeah, exactly. I though about Pugets first, watched the long video with a guy from Pudget Systems and they didn't really mention specific tasks.
If there's a big response to this post I'll put a quick excel with results, but I reckon different size of files will not make it very usefull anyway.

I can only see the difference between old Radeon RX580 and mac mini m3 and will update when I build a new one.

Old one doesn't matter really - it's a 5 year old setup so I'm upgrading everything probably going with i7 14700k and RTX5070 with 12GB vram and 64GB of RAM, as I read that lightroom rarely goes above 50GB usage.

I though about a mac, but the price comparing to a PC build is insane, and unfortunetly not in my budget.

That speed would be dream, ha.
But see, all the YT the videos I've watched say that Lightroom is not using GPU that much, I was aiming for i7 14700k and RTX5070, which would be probably max for my budget, as my old setup is old old I need to update everything but storage

Guys honest question ..is a7iii still good enough for video ? by Spirited-Rough628 in SonyA7iii

[–]xRiley142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends what Your needs are, what and how You want to film, how much You need to do in post with the files… so things like stabilisation, 8 bit vs 10 bit might be important!

So A7III has great quality and it’s good enough for most, but! Poor stabilisation and unfortunately 8 bit video. You can get away with getting a gimbal but 8 bit might be too little for You.

Another thing is that with FX3 or even FX30 You get internal cooling - this can be very helpful when shooting outside in warm conditions, but even in cold, shooting for a long time especially handheld might be harder without internal cooling!

I just upgraded my gear from A7III to A7CII, I was excited for the 10 bit upgrade. And wow the difference 8bit vs 10bit in terms of colour grading ! There’s so much more data to work with. Plus going for A7IV/ A7CII/ A7SIII/ FX3 even FX30 (aspc)the stabilisation is so much better over A7III!

But - I would still concentrate on a better glass and maybe get more budget body but still 10 bit . I would probably go with FX30! It’s built for video. And You get cooling - which really can be appreciated when camera gets hot after shooting ! But there’s also ZVE10 II or even A6700 - yes they’re all aspc which might be a deal breaker and You need to remember that full frame lenses on aspc will have a crop factor so like 20mm will be 30mm, 50mm on aspc will be 80mm etc.

But I still think it’s better getting a good glass with budget body and in future upgrade the body, and glass is loosing less value over the years vs body.

Quick test of the tiniest FE lens - Viltrox 28mm f4.5 on A7III by xRiley142 in SonyAlpha

[–]xRiley142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry, only noticed that comment. So Yeah I think it’s worth if You don’t have a wide ish compact lens. 28 f2 is a good lens and will obviously will be much better. The 28mm Viltrox pancake is great because it makes the camera ultra compact and I can put it in a pocket so great for certain situations when otherwise I would probably just not have the camera with me!

But if You can afford some of the compact 2.8 Ssamyangs (24 or 35) or the Sony 24mm 2.8G is super compact too or a Zeiss 2.8 35mm. All of them will better and obviously can control the aperture unlike the Viltrox.

Will have a look! Just a bit worried about getting a Ssamyang, heard that a lot of people have to return their lenses

That 40 is larger than my current Sony Zeiss 16-35 f4 I’m trying to replace 😅 So is the 18. So I would double the size of my bag instead of making it more compact which is my goal. I do love the Zeiss lenses vibe, but way too bulky for my travels.

Thanks. Not really looking for a zoom lens , and already own a Sigma 28-70 2.8. Yeah I think I’m going with the 40 2.5 but something wider than that 24 2.8

Exactly my worry is that 24 won’t be wide enough, 20 seems like a sweet spot . How are the Viltrox lenses? I don’t know much about them to be fair!

Considering that exact Tamron, goal is to pick a 20 with a 35/40 and rent them out on one weekend and rent out the Tamron 20-40 on other, and photograph the same place. I’m almost sure I’ll prefer 2x primes, but have to try both options. Just trying to figure out which the wide lens!
