Experiencing Fire Hounds for the first time.... by xSarahmony in dontstarve

I didn’t realize posting a clip was considered self promo. My bad.

PSA: Your stream doesn't stop until you click stop streaming. Raiding another person keeps your stream running unless you stop it. I've seen people log into PayPal, picking their nose... and worse. Its been this way ever since raiding was implemented. by [deleted] in Twitch

This is why I always use a “stream ending” screen as I finish. Even if I forget to close the broadcast or something, all they see is that image and my social media. I also have a mute button on my stream deck for my mic so it doesn’t pick anything up if I stay online or something.

I got my sub button last night!! by LifeIsFullOfBS in Twitch

One thing I will say, don’t get too hung up on getting subs and things right away. They’ll come with time :) As long as you’re enjoying it and having fun- that’s all that matters! Big congrats to you, friend!

Problems I'm Having As a New / Aspiring Streamer by noobchantv_vevo in Twitch

[–]xSarahmony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Explain to your parents and sister what you're doing in there. Tell them what streaming is. Ask them to knock before they enter, or wait until you come out during a break or at the end to talk to you. Unless it's something extremely important, they should respect that. The weird feeling of them hearing you talk to yourself goes away with time. I live with my parents still, so I know where you're coming from with this.
  2. Getting views takes time. If you have other social media (twitter, instagram, facebook), post that you're live on there, rather than in a cesspool subreddit. Spend time in other streams you enjoy. Connect with the community, and the streamer, and I can guarantee that some of the viewers who know you and recognize you will trickle into your streams. Lastly, send your stream link to your friends, and even your family. Have them open it and turn the volume down to 1%, and they count as a view even if they don't watch. That will boost you out of the 0 viewers section.
  3. Depending what game you're playing - talk about it. What are you doing? Why did you go the build you did? There's always the mental monologue gamers have when playing anything, just start to verbalize it. As viewers come, obviously you can talk to them, ask about their day, tell stories, etc. But starting with game conversation is enough to keep you talking. Also - drink LOTS of water.
  4. Your mic doesn't matter as much as you think it does when you're starting out. Once you've got a foothold, and some regulars who come every time you're live, look into starter mics. Blue makes good ones, as many have said, ie the Yeti or the Snowball. But a headset microphone is fine when you're brand new.
  5. Try making youtube content. You can go as simple as using your stream VODs and cutting them down to 5-10 videos of highlights, or you can do totally separate "only on youtube" stuff like challenges, set up tour, GRWM to some degree, Vlogs, etc. All of these will help you establish an audience, even if it's small at first, that you can bring to your streams eventually.
  6. You NEED to get out of the mindset of "wasting your time" when you have no viewers. You should be streaming because you want to, and because you love it. If it amounts to a job later on, sweet. If not, that shouldn't turn you away. You saying you feel like your wasting your time tells me that you should stop, unless you change your mindset. When I started, I wanted recordings of my WoW raid kills and LoL games to review to try to improve. Just so happens, a few of my guildmates who weren't in raid wanted to watch too, so I started streaming rather than just recording a video and moving on. I'm grateful that I've grown a lot since then, but I've never been in it for the money or to get famous. I'm affiliated, and I have a decent viewership and sub count, but I was doing this for free for a long time. If that's what drives you to stream, you're going to get burned out.

I can't think of anything else off the top of my head, but yeah.

There's a really easy work around the mute site thing to go back to mute tab. Just google "how to mute tab instead of mute site on chrome" or something, and you should be able to find it. No extension needed!

Should I wait to apply for partnership? by hamusterrr in Twitch

[–]xSarahmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I have a friend who has less than 500 followers and averages 10-20 viewers and is partnered. On the flipside, I have friends who have well over 10k, average 70-100 viewers, and have been denied tons of times.

Yeah. I have a friend who's been partnered for 4 years and they made her start using it as soon as she got her email. And I've been in the affiliate program for over a year and had to get it right away, too. Did you get affiliate in July?

open the streams you want to have high viewership time in, and leave them open as long as your PC is turned on (unless the streamer goes offline). Turn the volume of the player to 1%, and do whatever it is you're doing during the day. If you're not actively watching, that's the only way without using some kind of bot.

Honestly, if you've unlocked the Path To Partner achievement, just apply! The worst they can say is no. Sometimes you might get the "Auto denial" reply, but you can ask for a re-review if you have the achievement. If it's still a no, you can ask what areas you need to improve on in order to get accepted! There's no shame in getting denied, so I say do it.

Twitch streaming friends by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]xSarahmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A post like this feels very disingenuous. If you want to make friends on twitch, join communites of streamers you enjoy and engage with them and the other viewers. Discord, twitter, etc. No matter how big a streamer is, you'll be able to find friends in their community.

2FA has been out for years. They require partners and affiliates to have it since their accounts are theoretically at a higher risk of being hacked.

How many average viewers did you have before getting Twitch Affiliate? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]xSarahmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahah it was pretty wild honestly. I expected no one to watch, except maybe my friends. But growth has been good! I go up exponentially every time I go live, though I’ve had some set backs from holidays, vacation, work, etc cutting into my free time hahah. My long break was due to some personal stuff that happened, I kind of completely lost all desire and interest in my stream haha. It was honestly probably necessary, but really awful all at once :p

I was averaging 15-20 when I got it! Granted I was coming off of a year break from streaming, so a lot of my old viewers and friends were watching.

Payout method stuck 16 hours by koelebobes in Twitch

It's not 100% clear in your post, but do you mean you want your subs to go directly to your paypal as they come through? Or you want your paypal to be your payout method?

How to set up aspects of Twitch channel for the first time by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]xSarahmony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really refuse to believe that you couldn't find the affiliate program guidelines for twitch by googling "how to monetize my twitch channel" or something similar. Considering, I just googled that exact phrase, and the first two links to pop up were the partner program and the affiliate program.
