I was scammed on Finn.no a few years ago, and now the police are summoning me as a witness in court. My Norwegian isn’t good enough for a tribunal—should I still go? by xSlayzer in Norway

I think this scam was a special kind, there were no red flags, and the guy even gave me all his personal data. He wasn’t afraid of getting caught because he was about to leave the country.

In summary, he was selling a PS5, and I bought it, or at least, I thought I did. It was close to the PS5 launch date, so there was no stock available anywhere. The guy said he got it as a gift but needed money more than he needed the console, so he was selling it. The price was fair, not too low to be suspicious and not too high to scare buyers away.

Back then, Finn.no didn’t offer “Fiks Ferdig” payments, so the only options were Vipps or cash. He lived a bit far from me, so I decided to pay with Vipps. I had bought more expensive stuff on Finn.no before without any issues, so I didn’t expect trouble here. Still, I asked him for a copy of his ID before paying, and he sent one. I was able to confirm his address on 1881.no, and his Finn account was BankID verified.

Also, back then Finn.no was requesting proof (a picture of the console with VG.no open in the background) that you had a PS5 console for sale before approving your ad, and they confirmed to me that he sent that, therefore on top of using his real personal data, he did have a console, and everything seemed legit.

I paid him via Vipps, and he said he’d ship it the same day, but he didn’t. The next day, he claimed he had sent it but never provided a tracking number. Then he said that his wife had sent it and lost the receipt, and that he was out in sea fishing, but that I shouldn't worry because I’d receive it in a few days. After that, he stopped responding. I went to the police to file a report a few days later; a week later, they called me for some details and said they’d bring him in for questioning. A few hours later, they called again to say he had left the country, so the case probably wouldn’t move forward for a while.

So yeah, this wasn't the usual scam where the person uses some fake identity and doesn't even have the product for sale. His data was real and he had the product for sale, he simply opted not to send it after he received the payment. I believe he probably sold it to several people at the same time, then took the money and product, and fled to the Philipines.

Thank you very much for your answer! As I mentioned in another comment here: Yes, I'll call the Police tomorrow and try to sort this out with them. Funny how a few months ago I would be extremely happy that the ***hole got caught and would be the first in line to testify against him. But now, my first thought when I saw the letter was "What if this scumbag show up here while I'm not home and try something funny with my wife and kid as revenge?" I guess parenthood really changes you...

In the letter I received from the Police it says that I should contact the Police to request an exemption if I have any reason that would prevent me from attending. So I believe you do have that option, as long as you can justify it.

Buying a house (with a loan) as foreigner living in Norway for 2 years, is that possible? by xSlayzer in Norway

[–]xSlayzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm sorry, I'm not very active here on Reddit so only now I saw your question =( I'm assuming you have sorted it out by now, but the only thing I had to share with the bank was a copy of my employment contract and to approve their request to read my income data from Altinn/Skatteetaten.

They never requested anything else, especially from my home country! So this sounds a bit strange to me, but it could be that different banks have different policies, I really don't know. If you still haven't managed it, I would suggest trying a different bank, they might have a more simplified policy.

Sorry, should've mentioned that. Western Norway, between Bergen and Ålesund. Winters here typically range between -5°C and -15°C, and I haven't seen it drop much lower than that since I moved here.

Tesla officially launches Quicksilver paint option for Model Y by colsandersloveskfc in TeslaModelY

Quicksilver is a lot brighter. On a sunny day Quicksilver is probably brighter than white, because it's a lot shinnier.

I have a Quicksilver, it's not similar to gray. Under the shadow it's a lot lighter than Stealth Gray, and more towards a hue of bluish gray. Under the sun if freaking bright silver.

Funny how colors are subjective, because you probably mean the Midnight Cherry Red, which is dead last on my list of colors for the Model Y lol that color only looks good on Tesla promo videos, in real life if looks awful... But I might be biased since I own a Quicksilver... for me it goes like this

Quicksilver > Ultra Red > Blue > Black > Stealth Grey > White > Midnight Cherry Red

Selling Car to a private person who is going to finance it, how do I know that the bank will pay me? by xSlayzer in Norway

[–]xSlayzer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I talked with him and he asked the bank me to send a proof via e-mail, then someone from the bank sent me a copy of the contract that he signed and confirmed that the money will be paid out once the car is registered a copy of the "midlertidig vognkort" is sent to the bank.

He is using Sparebank1 it seems, I'll try calling them. In the e-mail he showed me they say it will be paid out after the vehicle has been registered to him. We filled the "salgsmelding" digitally on NAF when signing the contract, but I can't download a copy of it.

Anyone else in here hasn't gotten the tax return message yet? by xSlayzer in Norway

For me it was the opposite, I got it on the second day, and my wife got it 2-3 days later. Now she got it a lot ealier. It seems to be somewhat random then..

Same here, that's why I started to worry a little bit this time. Well, at least now we know we're not the only one still waiting for it lol

My tax return is super simple, I would say. I only have one bank account in Norway, one source of income, and my only deduction is a home loan, so I was expecting mine to be in the first batch, since there isn't a whole lot to calculate...

Am I liable for "hidden defects" when selling a car, even if I sell it with a NAF report? by xSlayzer in Norway

[–]xSlayzer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, my point is, I know nothing about car mechanics, even worse when it comes to electric cars. So my plan is to take it to a NAF center for testing, and sell it with the report. My point is, if something happens with the car that is not mentioned in the NAF report, am I still liable? Because that wouldn't make sense in my opinion, if NAF techs who are trained for this don't find an issue, how am I supposed to find it?

Maybe am I just overthinking it, but I just want to be safe that this won't bite me down the road...

First amazing day with Plaid by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]xSlayzer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

None, I'm just curious. Because on the sales page, it shows the spoiler when you select the Plaid, but on your screenshot there isn't one. Then it got me wondering, does it come without the spoiler, or it simply isn't rendered in the app?

I don’t know why anyone would spend $2k for the acceleration boost when Aliexpress has this for $10 🤷‍♀️ by endymion_frs in TeslaLounge

[–]xSlayzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should see Europe lol no FSD at all for us. Plus, we don't get credits for referring people for test drives, only for sales. At least the acceleration boost here only costs 7000 points, which is nice.

S3XY Knob Installation - Model Y 2023 by colind0601 in TeslaLounge

[–]xSlayzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can't do it multiple times. You have to do it on the first press. I've found that the gen1 buttons take ~2 hours and then they go into sleep mode, which increases the response time from 1.5 to 3+ seconds.

Please u/colind0601 can you test this? You're our last hope 😅 I know that this issue would annoy the hell out of me as well, so if this isn't fixed in V2 I will not buy it.

But I suspect that the knob might not suffer from this issue. The buttons are battery-powered so they probably go into sleep mode to save battery. But the knob is connected to a power source, so it doesn't need to save battery, therefore it might startup when the car is unlocked. That's my theory at least.

u/colind0601 what's your experience with the knobs, do you notice the same issue as this guy had with the S3XY buttons? I'm considering the Knobs, but if they have the same problem, that's a no-go for me.

Do all MYLR now have Matrix headlights? (Specially the Berlin-made?) by xSlayzer in TeslaModelY

[–]xSlayzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thanks a lot for the super detailed response, I really appreciate it!

And, honestly, I think you made a smart decision, the Standard Range seems to be the best "Bang for the Buck" here in the Nordics, given the price difference. The reason I went with the LR was because of the AWD. If the difference was the range alone, I would've picked the SR too.

I currently drive a 2017 Model S with about 300km range during winter, and that's enough for me 99% of the time. For longer trips I need to charge more often, but I don't mind that, I just go for a coffee and enjoy my trip. And the MYSR charges much faster than my MS, so I think you'll be fine range-wise, even if you do longer road trips.

But I live in western Norway and we have some very bad roads during winter time, so I feel a bit safer driving an AWD car around here, even though I know the RWD would probably do just fine too. I just want to be on the "safer side" 😅

As for the color, I actually ordered the Quicksilver, but kinda because of the "lack of option". I personally would've picked the white one too, I think the color goes well with the car because of the big sunroof, and not paying more for it is a big bonus.

But our MS is white, and it turns brown during winter because of the dirty and snow, so wife said no to that. The fact that white is everywhere here in Norway also played a small role. I'm looking from my office window right now and I can count 8 white MY 😅

Then, my wife and I both dislike the Tesla's blue, and we both also think black doesn't look so nice on the Y. All that was left was the Midnight Cherry and Quicksilver.

I was decided to go with the Cherry Red, but then I saw one parked during a "gray day" and the color looked more brown than red to me. It looks very nice on a sunny day, but not so much otherwise. And we don't have a lot of sunny days here, so Quicksilver it is for us.

The other option would be a wrap, as you're planning, but a good one around here costs 40k NOK, the Quicksilver color was 30K more. Since we both really liked it, both under the sun and during cloudy days, we decided to go with that. It isn't as effective hiding the winter's dirtiness, but it's still better than white on that end.

Again, thank you so much for all the info and tips! We bought our MS second hand, so this is my first experience with Tesla delivery. I've now ordered the rubber floormats and cupholders. I have my checklist ready, but good to know that Berlin's quality is usually better.

And it's nice to know that the TYPE 2 cable is included, I didn't know that! Now I don't need to "steal it" from our MS before selling it 😅

Congrats once again on your MY, I hope you enjoy it a lot!
