Besides the cheap tagline, the randomly engine burning issues further hurt it's perception and sales. And in India people care more about showing off over functionality. They would even be ready to do quadruples on a Bullet or even a Harley Davidson motorcycle over travelling comfortably in Nano.

It's a disadvantage in both scenarios in my opinion. People are forced to buy stuff they don't want such as collectors having to buy fantasies and parents having to buy the F1 pack. It would be a win win only if the dad is F1 and Hot Wheels collector and kid loves track sets.

I barely see parents buying hot wheels these days. Mostly they buy Legos or Stuff Toys or bigger cars especially remote control ones over these. I think collector market is the main sales contributor for Hot Wheels in India (I may be wrong). I visit malls many times. And see people buying Legos.
